Sime Darby Property’s Elmina Lakeside Mall in Shah Alam secured the prestigious World Gold Award in the ‘Retail’ category at the 2026 FIABCI World Prix d’Excellence Awards held in Vienna, Austria on June 11, 2026.
Organised by Fédération Internationale des Administrateurs de Biens-Conselis Immobiliers (FIABCI), translated as the International Real Estate Federation, the awards recognize global property developments that demonstrate excellence in design, construction quality, innovation, sustainability, and community impact.
Winners are evaluated by an international panel of real estate professionals and industry experts on a holistic set of standards, including functionality, impact and overall value added to the surrounding community.
The recognition validates Sime Darby Property’s approach to creating connected township ecosystems where retail, community, recreation and nature are planned as a single, integrated experience.

Sime Darby Property group managing director and chief executive officer Dato’ Seri Azmir Merican said the award validated the company’s strategy of building integrated developments that deliver value far beyond individual assets.
“Elmina Lakeside Mall was conceived as part of a broader township ecosystem, bringing together retail, recreation, community spaces and nature within a connected environment that supports how people live, work and interact,” he said.
The award recognized the mall’s unique “mall in a park, park in a mall” concept, which seamlessly integrates retail, nature and recreation to enrich the surrounding community.
Situated in the City of Elmina, the 52-acre, GreenRE Silver certified mall spans 214,000 sq ft and achieved full occupancy within eight months of its soft opening in August 2024, serving a catchment of approximately one million residents.
Beyond retail, the development incorporates community-focused amenities including indoor and outdoor event spaces, a lakeside promenade and direct connectivity to the adjoining 35-acre Urban Park.
