Tune Talk, Malaysia’s pioneering cloud-native mobile operator, has introduced a “Zero-Hassle” mobile number portability service as its subscriber base has surged to 1.8 million users.
The new initiative replaces traditional, complex switching, allowing users to seamlessly port their existing numbers through a streamlined, three-step digital process on the Tune Talk app.
“Our move to a fully cloud-native network was never just about modernising infrastructure; it was about creating a better, simpler experience for our customers,” said Tune Talk co-founder and chief executive officer Gurtaj Singh Padda.
He continued, “We understand that switching mobile providers can feel like a big step, especially when people worry about the process, their number, or staying connected, added Gurtaj.
“With Zero-Hassle Mobile Number Port-in, we want to take that worry away and make the journey as clear and reassuring as possible. If Malaysians feel they are ready for something better, moving to Tune Talk should feel easy, supported, and seamless from the start.”
“We have invested in the network of the future, and now we want to make it easier for more Malaysians to experience it with confidence,” he added.
Tune Talk’s initiative condenses mobile number portability (MNP) into a streamlined, digital-first workflow. It eliminates traditional paperwork and physical queues, allowing everyday users to safely port their existing number in under 5 minutes.
The simplified 3-step transition framework de-risks the process by breaking it down as follows:
1. Pre-port checklist: A definitive 5-point checklist that guides consumers to instantly verify line ownership, clear micro-debts and ensure ID details mirror current provider records to eliminate automated rejections.
2. The 3-step port-in:
- Step 1 (Request & Verification): Users download the Tune Talk App, select the transfer option, complete a secure digital ID eKYC, and order a physical SIM or instant eSIM.
- Step 2 (SMS Confirmation): Users reply to the confirmation SMS sent by their current provider.
- Step 3 (Final SIM Swap & Activation): Users continue using their old mobile number normally. Once the old signal drops, simply insert their new Tune Talk physical SIM or activate their eSIM using the QR code sent to their email.
3. Myth-busting digital anxiety: Common consumer fears, such as connectivity downtime will not be an issue and critical digital services, including WhatsApp, banking TACs, and OTPs, will transfer over seamlessly.
Tune Talk’s frictionless mobile port-in transition aligns with its broader strategy to pivot from traditional data quotas toward a value-driven digital ecosystem, increasing subscriber engagement through continuous in-app utility and lifestyle rewards
Rather than engaging in traditional “GB-per-ringgit” comparisons, the cloud-native telco is focusing on delivering a holistic digital lifestyle.
The digital port-in guide and blueprint are now available to the public via the Tune Talk App and official website.
