Uniqlo extends contribution to families affected by Sandakan fire

Uniqlo Malaysia has collaborated with the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA) to provide urgent assistance to families affected by the massive fire in Kampung Bahagia, Sandakan, Sabah.

Uniqlo Malaysia has contributed over RM42,000 in cash and clothing to support residents affected by the Kampung Bahagia fire in Sandakan, Sabah, which destroyed nearly 1,000 homes.

Uniqlo’s contribution was channelled through the Malaysian Relief Agency (MRA), which is supporting affected communities at temporary evacuation centres.

The donation includes new AIRism innerwear and pre-loved clothing to help meet the immediate needs of displaced families.

The fire broke out on April 19, 2026, in a densely built water village, leaving thousands of residents displaced with minimal belongings.

“Our thoughts are with the families affected by the fire. When people are displaced so suddenly, even basic everyday items become urgent. We hope this contribution brings some comfort while supporting the ongoing relief efforts on the ground,” said Dawn Chow, sustainability and corporate public relations director, Uniqlo Malaysia.

The contribution reinforces Uniqlo’s commitment to supporting communities during crises, as part of its mission to play an active role in contributing to society through both its clothing and corporate activities.
