The Selangor Fashion Week returned in style this year, with its ASEAN edition successfully held on April 25-26, 2026 at Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya.
Organized by Miss Malaysia Kebaya (MMK), the event brought together local and ASEAN fashion designers, creative visionaries and cultural representatives, highlighting ASEAN’s rich, diverse heritage and contemporary innovation.

The runway showcased a diverse range of designs, from modern contemporary fashion to traditional heritage from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines and Japan.
The event was launched on April 25 by Tourism Malaysia senior deputy director of advertising and digital division, Norshamshida Abdul Rahman, in alignment with Visit Malaysia 2026 to showcase local talent, boost creative tourism and promote ASEAN heritage.

MMK founder and president Dr Jason Hee said the Selangor Fashion Week is significant as it was designed to align with the national tourism goals for Visit Malaysia Year 2026 (VM2026).
He said the show is not merely a fashion event but a strategic movement that integrates culture, creativity and diplomacy, aiming to elevate Malaysia’s creative identity on the global stage.
“In this era of globalisation, fashion is no longer just a style but a form of cultural communication, bringing the stories, identity and values of a nation to the international stage,” he said.

The event featured the appointment of new Tourism & Cultural Ambassadors, aligning with the VM2026 campaign.
The second day, April 26th, highlighted a blend of international couture, traditional heritage and sustainable fashion, featuring a strong focus on Sabah’s cultural heritage and traditional attire.

Supported by Tourism Malaysia, the fashion event is aimed to showcase local talent, boost creative tourism and promote ASEAN heritage, strengthening Selangor’s reputation as a premier destination for fashion, wellness and lifestyle tourism.

Hee said the 2026 ASEAN Edition also reflects the strategic direction in strengthening Malaysia-China cultural diplomacy, and the broader ASEAN region.
“Fashion now functions as a form of soft power which can connect countries, bridge cultural gaps and open up space for broader and sustainable future cooperation.
“This is the future direction we need to continue to build, where creativity becomes a bridge and culture becomes a shared strength,” he said.

Hee expressed his appreciation for the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders involved in making Selangor Fashion Week ASEAN Edition a success, particularly acknowledging fashion designers and brands from across Southeast Asia who brought together their creativity and cultural heritage to the stage.

“With continued support from the government, industry and creative community, I am confident that this platform will continue to grow and have a greater impact on the future of the country,” added Hee.

Selangor Fashion Week was founded in 2019 by Dr Jason Hee and Nicole Fe Lynne of the Miss Malaysia Kebaya (MMK) organization to empower local designers and elevate Malaysian fashion talent to regional and international levels.

The platform has evolved from a local, runway-focused initiative into a broader regional event and ecosystem to unite fashion designers, models and industry players from various ASEAN countries, elevating the region’s cultural heritage, identity and creativity to the world’s attention.
