The Discover Borneo 2026 Festival is bringing the vibrant culture, food and traditions of Sabah and Sarawak to the Curve, happening from May 6 to 17 at the Centre Court.

Discover Borneo 2026 brings the vibrant culture of Sabah and Sarawak to the Curve in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya from May 6 to 17 at the Centre Court.

Held in conjunction with the Sarawak Hari Gawai (June 1–2) and Sabah Hari Kaamatan (May 30–31) harvest celebrations in 2026, the festival features a “Heritage Bazaar” highlighting East Malaysian products, including handcrafted items, fashion, accessories and traditional foods.

More than just a marketplace, it offers an immersive Sarawakian food experience, featuring authentic dishes such as kolok mee, Sarawak laksa and ‘nasi bungkus alongside desserts like ‘kek lapis and ‘gula apong ice cream.

Beyond the food, the festival includes cultural performances like the Datun Julud dance, interactive workshops (blowpipe making, kek lapis making) and “Cook & Eat” sessions. Attendees stand a chance to win prizes across various activities, including a kids’ colouring contest.

Visitors can immerse themselves in Bornean heritage through authentic, handcrafted treasures, including sacred pua kumbu textiles and intricate rattan weaving.

The event features traditional accessories, natural garam bukit’ (hill salt), and unique plant-based MSG derived from leaves.

Guided by the theme “Bringing Tradition Towards Sustainability,” the festival focuses on supporting local communities, entrepreneurs and artistes while offering visitors immersive, experience-led engagement with the heritage of Sabah and Sarawak. It’s where culture meets creativity and tradition comes alive in a modern setting.

The Curve general manager Elaine Liew said Discover Borneo 2026 reflects their commitment to creating meaningful and forward-looking experiences, supporting East Malaysian entrepreneurs.

“We’re proud to support East Malaysian entrepreneurs while bringing Malaysians closer to the richness of our cultural heritage,” she said.

Visitors can also explore dedicated booths to immediately book curated travel packages for Sabah and Sarawak, with exclusive rewards available through a stamp-and-redeem initiative.

More than just a festival, Discover Borneo 2026 is a celebration bringing the vibrant culture of East Malaysia to the Klang Valley, and offering a unique opportunity to explore and experience the rich heritage of Sabah and Sarawak.
