Subang Jaya Medical Centre celebrates its 37th anniversary

From L-R: Dr Gunalan Palari, Bryan Lin, Peter Hong Kah Peng, Mustamir Mohammad and Dato’ Dr Jacob Thomas kicked off SJMC’s 37th anniversary celebration with a special cake cutting ceremony.

Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) gave back to the community of Subang Jaya and unveiled a time capsule dating back to 1990 as it celebrated its 37th anniversary on August 5, 2022.

In 1985, SJMC opened its doors. Over the last 37 years, the hospital has been at the forefronts of the Malaysian private healthcare industry.

The hospital is a recognized name for medical tourism as it continues to ride the wave of innovation for medical excellence, and just last month, it was named Best Hospital of the Year 2022 by Frost & Sullivan Asia Pacific Best Practices Award for the second consecutive year.

“At the heart of our celebration is people. As I look around this room, I honour the rich legacy of SJMC to those who have laid strong foundations through their expertise, unwavering passion and dedication throughout the past 37 years,” said SJMC chief executive officer Bryan Lin in his welcome speech to former and present SJMC leaders and staff, some of whom had joined virtually.

Lin continued, ”Today, we continue to build from strength to strength, locally and regionally. One of our strong local supporters have been the people of Subang Jaya. Many babies of Subang were born here and went on to build families. So, on this special occasion, it gives me great joy to give back to the community of Subang Jaya.”

Also present at the celebrations were Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDH) Group chief executive officer Peter Hong Kah Peng, SJMC Medical Advisory Board chairman Dr Gunalan Palari, RSDH board member Mustamir Mohammad and RSDH Group medical advisor Dato’ Dr Jacob Thomas.

Lin presented a mock cheque for 37 complimentary 3D mammogram screenings to Subang Jaya state assemblywoman Michelle Ng, and another mock cheque to Kelvin Chew of Persatuan Bantuan Kecemasaan Dan Bomba Komuniti Subang Jaya in support of the Subang Jaya community ambulance.

He also presented long service awards to 33 doctors and staff members who have served for over 31 years.

Coincided with the 37th anniversary celebration was the unveiling of a time capsule which revealed a photo album and scroll with signatures of those who witnessed the opening of the hospital’s Outpatient Centre in 1990.

The flagship hospital under the Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care (RSDH) group, SJMC is accredited by the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) and Joint Commission International (JCI), a globally recognized accreditation for medical services. SJMC’s laboratory is also an internationally recognized MS ISO 15189 accredited since 2009.
