The Guangdong Yimin Clothing Trade Center Apparel Trade Business Matching Summit successfully concluded on Sept 4, 2026, at Vivatel Kuala Lumpur, strengthening cross-border collaboration between the Chinese and Malaysian apparel industries.
The event is jointly organised by Guangdong Canton Trade Global Technology Co Ltd, Guangdong Yimin Garment City and Guangzhou Tianhe District Garment Chamber of Commerce, alongside the SME Association of Malaysia and the E-Commerce Association of Malaysia.

It brought together leaders of business associations from China and Malaysia, industry experts, apparel manufacturers, local buyers, agents, distributors and cross-border e-commerce entrepreneurs from both countries to foster two-way trade and digital e-commerce linkages.
The high-level, targeted and results-driven cross-border apparel event established a premium business platform for precise supply-and-demand matching and sustained resource collaboration between the apparel industries of both countries.

Guangdong’s apparel industry is one of the largest in China, anchored by more than 40 years of manufacturing growth and over 2,500 large-scale garment enterprises and an extensive network of small and medium-sized workshops.
A high-profile delegation from the Guangdong apparel enterprise sector arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 3, 2026 to conduct an immersive market research visit and pave the way for major bilateral trade opportunities.
The research trip set the immediate stage for the Guangdong Yimin Clothing Trade Center Apparel Trade Business Matching Summit on Sept 4, 2026.

Around 30 Guangdong-based apparel companies showcased their full collections covering all four seasons – spring, summer, autumn and winter to foster long-term supply chain partnerships. The exhibits included mass-market commercial styles, high-end custom designs and direct-from-manufacturer best-sellers.
The exhibition showcased Guangzhou’s highly developed supply chain, advanced production and R&D capabilities, and strong market competitiveness.
Leading Malaysian buyers, established brand agents, brick-and-mortar distributors and cross-border e-commerce service providers had the opportunity to engage in face-to-face discussions with the Chinese apparel companies.

Their exchanges focused on product design, quality and workmanship, bulk supply, original equipment manufacturing (OEM) and customisation, cross-border supply arrangements, pricing structures and long-term distribution partnerships.
The business matching outcome generated strong engagement with effective matching supply with demand. A number of companies reached preliminary intentions regarding procurement, consignment sales and deeper cooperation, delivering practical business connections and targeted customer acquisition.
During the summit, prominent industry representatives from China and Malaysia delivered speeches and shared insights on industry trends and new opportunities for cooperation.

Malaysia Cross-Border E-Commerce Association president Dato’ Chan Wing Keong spoke about the opportunities for collaboration between the Malaysian and Chinese apparel industries. His remarks provided professional guidance for Guangdong apparel enterprises seeking to establish a stronger presence in the Malaysian market.

SME Association of Malaysia president Dr Chin Chee Seong spoke about Malaysia’s small and medium enterprise ecosystem, highlighting the resources and distribution strengths of the local commercial market and explained the principal areas and practical pathways for cooperation between Malaysian and Chinese apparel enterprises to foster mutual understanding and pursue shared growth.

Guangdong Canton Trade Global Technology Co Ltd chairman Chen Gang presented the key framework, service system and strategic plan of the Canton Trade Global overseas expansion programme.
He explained the platform’s mission and vision of helping Guangdong’s competitive local industries overcome barriers to international expansion and enter global markets, thereby providing comprehensive support to enterprises within Guangdong’s industrial clusters.

Meanwhile, Guangdong Yimin Garment City deputy general manager and Guangzhou Tianhe District Garment Chamber of Commerce secretary-general Chen Chun highlighted the complete supply-chain advantages, scale and core competitiveness of Guangzhou’s apparel industry.
She also introduced the Chinese business delegation and outlined the overseas collaboration needs of local garment companies, promoting more precise two-way matching between industry supply and market demand across China and Malaysia.

The event reached a key milestone with the official launch of the strategic partnership and the signing of the cooperation agreement. The agreements formalize long-term cooperation between the Chinese and Malaysian apparel industries, enabling resource connectivity, information sharing, reciprocal business visits and sustained supply-and-demand matching, while laying a solid foundation for deeper economic and trade cooperation.
The successful Guangdong Yimin Garment City Apparel Trade and Business Matching Summit has established an efficient commercial channel for Guangzhou’s apparel industry to expand into Malaysia. This milestone event significantly strengthens the market connectivity and resource complementarity between the two regions.
Building on the strategic cooperation framework between China and Malaysia and Malaysia established at the event, the partnership will continue to organise industry visits, resource-matching initiatives and in-depth collaboration.
These efforts will support the expansion of Guangdong apparel brands into Southeast Asia, driving mutual economic growth and strengthening the Malaysia–China apparel trade corridor.
