Malaysian technology group Singularity Connect and IJN Research (the research arm of Malaysia’s National Heart Institute, Institut Jantung Negara) have officially partnered to pioneer agentic AI solutions for healthcare.
The collaboration was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) exchanged on Aug 27, 2026 at the National Innovation and Commercialisation Expo 2026 (NICE 2026) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre.
The partnership aims to develop and commercialize home-grown, outcomes-focused AI applications specifically tailored for cardiovascular and thoracic care.
Under the collaboration, Singularity Connect and IJN Research will explore opportunities to bring together multidisciplinary expertise including medical professionals, developers, data scientists, statisticians, bioinformaticians and other relevant specialists to support the development of healthcare-focused AI applications.
The parties will also explore collaboration with the Malaysian Research Accelerator for Technology and Innovation (MRANTI) and other relevant innovation partners, supporting the wider pathway from research and technological development towards real-world application and commercialisation.
The partnership comes as Malaysia continues to accelerate the adoption and commercialisation of emerging technologies across priority sectors.
NICE 2026, organised by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) and driven by MRANTI, brings together Malaysia’s innovation ecosystem under the theme “Mission to Market. Malaysia to the World.”
Healthcare artificial intelligence requires a blend of advanced technology, deep clinical expertise, real-world understanding, and strong research capabilities to create a meaningful impact.
According to Ahmad Fauzi Ali, the group chief executive officer of Singularity Connect Sdn Bhd, relying on technology alone is not enough to transform the medical sector.
“Our collaboration with IJN Research brings these elements together.
“Through this partnership, we aim to demonstrate how agentic AI can be applied responsibly and practically to support healthcare professionals, research and ultimately better health outcomes.
“It also reflects our broader focus at Singularity Connect on putting AI to work in industries where it can create real value,” he said.
Meanwhile, Prof Dato’ Dr Suhaini Kadiman, chief research & innovation officer, IJN Research Sdn Bhd, said healthcare is fundamentally human and AI should serve as an augmentation tool rather than a replacement for human empathy and judgment.
“At IJN Research, we believe the future lies in combining clinical expertise and human judgement with responsible, explainable AI to deliver better decisions and better patient outcomes.

The MoU establishes a framework for both organisations to explore areas of cooperation and potential initiatives, with specific programmes and projects to be further developed and agreed upon by the parties.
For Singularity Connect, the collaboration forms part of its broader strategy to drive the practical adoption and commercialisation of AI across industries by connecting technology with sector-specific expertise and real-world applications.
The partnership also represents a step towards strengthening Malaysia’s ability to develop home-grown, clinically informed AI capabilities that address industry-specific needs, while creating solutions with the potential to be commercialised and scaled beyond the domestic market.
