The ParkCity Medical Centre (PMC) in Kuala Lumpur introduced its ‘Go the Extra Mile’ i-Kiddo Kids Mobile Clinic by offering free health checks to kids from the B40 communities in the Kepong area, recently.
The corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative was carried out in collaboration with Village Grocer and Masjid Al-Iman Al Ghazali in Bandar Manjalara.
PMC chief executive officer Ch’ng Lin Ling said the pandemic has elevated the importance of helping others, particularly the harder-hit communities during these challenging times.
“With the support of our CSR partners and an altruistic team of healthcare professionals, we can do our part for the well-being of children in need, while contributing towards building a healthier nation,” she said.
The kids mobile clinic with its team of pediatricians, pediatric ophthalmologist, nurses and staff volunteers from both PMC and Masjid Al-Imam Al Ghazali tended to children between the ages of 4 and 12 on September 26.
There will be another session of kids mobile clinic to be held on October 3, 2021 from 8.30am – 12.00pm noon at Masjid Al-Imam Al Ghazali.
Among the free healthcare services provided were vision test for children and health screening.
The PMC team is led by paediatricians Dr Salehuddin Samsudin and Dr Michelle Ling together with paediatric ophthalmologist Dr Norazah Abdul Rahman.
Families also received goodies containing dairy products and other essentials contributed by Village Grocer via its Smiles Programme initiative geared towards providing support to underserved and vulnerable communities.
Masjid Al Imam Al Ghazali chairman Rumaizi Sanusi said, “As an institution, it is important for Masjid Al-Imam Al-Ghazali to rally behind initiatives that will ease and lessen the burden of those impacted by the pandemic. We hope that this will be the first step towards many more collaborations in the future, in support of communities around us.”
Geoff King, chief executive officer of The Food Purveyor which operates Village Grocer said it was imperative for the company to be responsive towards the needs of vulnerable children.
“We are proud to be supporting PMC in sponsoring 200 bags containing fresh and healthy foods such as bananas, milk, and wholemeal crackers. We believe the collaboration lends an extra hand and brings smiles to these children and their families,” he said.
The hospital ensures that public safety is a priority during the initiative with strict respiratory etiquette maintained and full compliance to current standard operating procedures including physical distancing, use of face masks and sanitization.
