Selangor Fashion Week International 2026 unites fashion, heritage, culture and tourism

The sixth edition of Selangor Fashion Week International 2026 takes place from August 21 to 23, 2026, at Paradigm Mall, Petaling Jaya.

Organised by Miss Malaysia Kebaya (MMK) in conjunction with Karnival Kebaya Malaysia 4.0, the event unites designers and brands from Malaysia, ASEAN member states, and China to promote regional culture and support the Visit Malaysia 2026 campaign.

The international platform brings together participants from Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak, alongside designers, delegates, educational institutions, industry leaders and strategic partners from ASEAN member states and China.

More than a fashion event, Selangor Fashion Week International serves as a dynamic cross-sector platform. It connects local and international designers with broader industries like tourism, education, cultural heritage, creativity and entrepreneurship, creating opportunities for talent development, cultural exchange, industry networking and international collaboration.

Azmi Abdullah, senior deputy director of the package development division, represented the director-general of Tourism Malaysia at the Selangor Fashion Week International 2026 press conference and signing ceremony. He witnessed the strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signing, formalizing partnerships between organizers, academic institutions and corporate allies.

Strategic MoUs were signed involving UNITAR International University, UCSI University and the Playground Academy.

The collaborations will strengthen academia-industry engagement, focusing on education, talent development, research, innovation, internships, entrepreneurship and professional industry exposure.

A MoA was also signed between Instant Media, organiser of the Malaysia International Textile & Tourism Expo (MITTE) 2026, and Miss Malaysia Kebaya (MMK) to formalise their strategic collaboration for MITTE 2026. The collaboration expands the ecosystem beyond fashion into textiles, tourism, heritage, culture, education, trade, investment and international business collaboration.

The Selangor Fashion Week initiative aims to preserve and promote Malaysia’s multicultural heritage while showcasing the country’s creative excellence, traditional textiles, emerging talents and tourism attractions to local and international audiences.

The platform strengthens collaboration among government agencies, academia, industry associations, corporations, designers, entrepreneurs and international partners, creating greater opportunities for education, talent development, entrepreneurship, tourism promotion and cultural exchange.

The opening day will feature a Non-Stop International Fashion Showcase from 10am to 10pm, presenting established designers, emerging talents, universities, modelling agencies, cultural fashion groups and international participants.

The runway will celebrate Malaysia’s multicultural identity through Kebaya, Batik, Songket, Tenun, Cheongsam, Saree, contemporary fashion and international collections, alongside participation from ASEAN and China.

The weekend celebration will feature the Malaysia Kebaya Contest, Heritage Costume Competitions, Fashion, Heritage & Tourism Forum, educational workshops, live demonstrations, textile and cultural exhibitions, cultural performances, business networking and interactive public activities.

Miss Malaysia Kebaya (MMK) founder and Selangor Fashion Week International 2026 organising chairman Dr Jason Hee Jee Pin said Selangor Fashion Week International goes beyond a standard fashion show to connect culture, heritage, education and international tourism across ASEAN and China.

“Through stronger partnerships among government, academia, industry and the international community, we aim to empower future talents, preserve Malaysia’s multicultural heritage, strengthen the creative economy and bring the Malaysian story to a wider global audience,” he said.

“From Malaysia to ASEAN, China and the world, we are building bridges through fashion, heritage and culture while supporting the aspirations of Visit Malaysia 2026,” he added.
