The Pinkfish Music & Arts Festival 2023 entertained over 8,000 music fans and arts lovers at the Surf Beach, Sunway Lagoon, Petaling Jaya on April 30.
The highly-energised festival was filled with live acts, both local and international, as well as art installations from various artists gifted in multiple mediums.
Organised by Hitman Solutions and Happymoon, the festival saw music and art enthusiasts, also known as Lavas, from Malaysia and visitors from around the region, danced along to their favourite tunes and celebrated the local art scene.
“Pinkfish Festival was a swimming success and we were pleasantly surprised by all the support we’ve received for our first festival and this gives us the motivation that we need to create an even bigger and better experience next year with even bigger acts at Pinkfish in the future,” said Rohit Rampal and Kesavan Purusotman, the founders of Pinkfish Festival.
There were even stilt walkers to greet the crowd, caricature artists and other performance experts to liven up the crowd as they explored the festival grounds.
The festival also showcased the best in fashion, with festival-goers decked in colourful and fun festival wear.
The Pinkfish Festival started out strong with Rimka opening the show at the Beach Hut, and was later joined by Chukiess & Whackboi, Nahsyk, BATE and Mister Ariffin.
Over on the main stage, SaturdaySelects kicked things off and got everyone on their feet and dancing to the beat.
Things kicked into high gear with Gard Wuzgut & Ramengvrl, plus an electrifying performance by Joe Flizzow, Meduza, Yellow Claw and Dash Berlin.
Festival-goers too got to experience international-level displays that showcased a spectacular experience of interactive fun.
The headliner of Pinkfish Festival, DJ Snake, opened his set with amazing light and pyrotechnics show lighting up the stage to the roaring crowd.
Despite being the last act, he had everyone wanting more, featuring all of his all-time favourite hits like ‘Taki Taki’, ‘Turn Down For What’ and ‘Get Low’.
He had the crowd cheering as he waved the Malaysian flag and thanked his fans in Malay saying “Terima Kasih”. As he left the stage, shouts for an encore could be heard throughout Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach.
A main feature unveiled at the festival was a 15-foot, giant inflatable version of “Chaigo”, a comic-style dog designed by local graffiti artist Kenji Chai. He was on-deck giving away custom hand-sprayed graffiti t-shirts for some lucky festival-goers.
A 16-feet installation gave art lovers a close-up look at this one of a kind art pieces by local talents
Pinkfish Festival also featured artworks from winners of the “Spray Your Art Out” contest, Yan Li Yi, Ganz and Duke Chua.
