Pos Malaysia Berhad, in collaboration with the Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM), recently celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of 2,434 employees from the Pos Wira Leadership Programme nationwide.
The programme is part of a broader, long-term cultural transformation to empower employees (known as “Wira” or heroes) to improve engagement and service quality, aiming to make Pos Malaysia a more customer-centric organization.
The graduates were awarded a Professional Certificate in Leadership and Management through Recognition of Prior Experiential Learning (RPL).
The graduation ceremony, officiated by Pos Malaysia chairman Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar, together with group chief executive officer Charles Brewer, underscored the Group’s long-term commitment to strengthening leadership capabilities at every level of the organisation from executive roles to front-line operations.

For Muzafar Lockman, head of zone, Balakong Delivery Centre, it was his first formal recognition ceremony, marking a significant milestone in his career.
“This is the first time in my 23 years of service at Pos Malaysia that I have been recognised in this way. I never imagined myself standing on a stage, wearing a graduation robe before,” he said.
“Receiving this certificate means a great deal to me because it recognises the leadership skills, knowledge and experience I have built over the years. It makes all the hard work and responsibilities I carry feel truly valued, and I am deeply grateful for the recognition,” he added.

Similar sentiments were echoed by other graduates. Mohd Aidwan Mohd Nasir, Branch Manager of KL Metro Awho has been with Pos Malaysia for nearly 20 years, described the occasion as a milestone he never anticipated reaching.
Meanwhile, Azahar Ibrahim, branch manager of Batu 18 Jalan Semenyih, another long-serving employee, shared that it was the first time he had stepped onto a stage to receive a certificate in recognition of his journey and contribution.
The Pos Wira Leadership Programme was designed to recognise and develop leadership at operational level, where employees directly interact with customers, impacting service quality. Unlike conventional, one-off training interventions, the programme is structured as a continuous leadership development journey, reinforcing leadership behaviours through practical application in daily operations.
“Leadership is not defined by position, but by values, behaviour and impact,” said Syed Faisal Albar. ”The true strength of Pos Malaysia does not lie in its buildings or vehicles, but in its people – the Pos Wiras who serve communities every day. Recognising them is about acknowledging years of dedication that often go unseen.”
The certification, recognized under the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) framework and regulated by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), provides a pathway to gain formal recognition for leadership competencies developed through structured learning and workplace experience, even without traditional academic qualifications. Eligible graduates can use this recognized qualification to pursue further undergraduate or postgraduate studies at accredited institutions.
Pos Malaysia aims to enable 3,300 Pos Wira leaders to obtain MIM certification, supporting long-term career mobility while strengthening organisational capability and leadership sustainability.
For many Pos Wira graduates, the ceremony represented more than the completion of a programme. It was a rare moment of acknowledgement – transforming years of quiet service into a shared sense of pride and belonging. From delivery hubs and post offices to counters and operational centres nationwide, the graduation marked a meaningful step in recognising the people who keep Malaysia connected every day.
