MR DIY is providing 3,817 students from Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) Sungai Long with hygiene kits to help them stay safe in the pandemic.

Through the retailer’s #DIY4UTAR initiative, the students will each receive two boxes of 3-ply face masks, a hand sanitiser and two sets of nasal test kits.

MR D.I.Y. Group marketing head Alex Goh said the group has been working with various organizations through the pandemic in helping to keep those in need safe with everyday essentials.

“As undergraduates across the country started returning to campus in late 2021, we saw the need to help equip them for their return to hostels and shared housing. We reached out to Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman to enable the students to stay safe and keep learning.  We hope our #DIY4UTAR will inspire other corporates to do the same with other schools and institutions of higher learning,” he said.

The retailer mobilized its resources and its #mrdiycares team to source, pack, and distribute the hygiene kits to the students.

Goh also thanked the administrative team from UTAR for ensuring the distribution of hygiene kits was carried out in a safe and efficient manner.

The #DIY4UTAR initiative is one in a series of collaborations between MR DIY and higher learning institutions under the #DIY4 umbrella.

On Nov-Dec last year, MR DIY had a joint collaboration with Touch ‘n Go Group and Universiti Malaya under the #DIY4UM initiative where the retailer distributed cash aid to more than 12,000 undergraduates prepared for the return to campus.
