The fourth edition of the Alliance Bank Heritage Run 2026 returns to Penang on July 12, 2026, at Padang Kota Lama (Esplanade).

This special commemorative edition aligning with Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026), features three categories (3km, 10km, 21km), offering RM20,000 in cash prizes, sustainable bamboo medals and a #SupportLokal bazaar.

The Run will feature cultural performances and a “Best Dressed” challenge in the 3km fun run where participants will compete in their finest traditional wear.

The 2026 run serves as a spotlight event for VM2026, expecting to build on the success of previous years with significant, scenic routes through Penang’s historic streets, highlighting Penang’s distinctive landmarks and multicultural identity.

Alliance Bank Malaysia Bhd group chief executive officer Kellee Kam said the Heritage Run has become a deeply meaningful tradition that reflects the bank’s commitment to creating purposeful occasions that connect people as one.

“We are proud to provide a platform that celebrates our shared history and strengthens the local communities we serve as ‘The Bank for Life’, he said.

The Heritage Run has evolved into a popular community event, with the 2025 edition attracting over 5,500 participants.

The 2026 Run is poised to attract an even broader domestic and international participation.

The Run’s finisher medals are made from sustainably sourced bamboo. This initiative is part of Alliance Bank’s broader commitment to sustainability and environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals, aimed at fostering a greener future and supporting community well-being.

Other event memorabilia are batik-inspired lanyards and exclusive canvas bags reflecting Penang’s cultural identity.

Additionally, the collectible race T-shirt designs are unique to each category and inspired by Penang’s rich cultural elements, including the kebaya, prawn mee and manik shoes.

All items will be packed in reusable canvas bags, reinforcing waste reduction and giving materials a second life.

The #SupportLokal bazaar will be reimagined as a heritage-focused marketplace, featuring a curated selection of local food, artisanal products, and arts and crafts. Through this initiative, the bank provides a venue for small business and entrepreneurs to showcase their merchandise to a wider audience.

The Heritage Run is one of Alliance Bank’s flagship initiatives reflecting the bank’s commitment to fostering community engagement, encouraging a healthy lifestyle and promoting environmental sustainability.

Ticket prices start at RM39 (launch sale) and registration opens from April 24 to June 30, 2026 or until sold out.
