Fashionably Modest Asia (FMA) 2026 lifestyle advisor Andrew Tan said that the first FMA demonstrated a strong, real audience demand for contemporary modest fashion and the creative regional talent driving it.

“For our second year, we want to take that conversation further.

“Fashion today is not only about creating a good collection. Designers also have to understand who they are, who they are speaking to and how they build an identity that audiences can recognise and connect with.

“FMA gives us an opportunity to put different designers, ideas, and audiences together and see where those conversations can lead,” he said.

The inaugural event challenged designers to create original runway pieces using dead-stock fabrics from their archives, pairing style with environmental awareness.

Entering its second year, FMA 2026 moves the conversation beyond visibility alone to explore the different ways designers are building identity, connecting with audiences and developing distinctive brands.

Across the programme, modest dressing is approached not as a single aesthetic or category, but as an evolving expression of personal style, culture, craftsmanship, and contemporary fashion.

The second edition also expands the relationship between fashion, media and audiences through a series of runway presentations involving some of Malaysia’s established lifestyle and women’s media platforms.

Majalah WM, Mingguan Wanita, Nona, and Hijabista will each present runway showcases during FMA 2026, pairing their established audience perspectives with selected designers and collections.

The collaborations form part of FMA’s wider approach to creating different points of discovery for participating designers, connecting the runway not only with the fashion community, but with audiences who engage with fashion through media, beauty, lifestyle, and personal style.
