Health and nutraceutical industry players are urged to leverage Sepang’s strategic location and multi-ethnic market potential by actively developing and producing halal products, while expanding the halal industry value chain in Sepang to support the growth of the local halal economy.

Sepang Municipal Council president Dr Ani Ahmad said Sepang offers a highly attractive investment location with close proximity to the international airport, major highways and logistics hubs.

“In addition, the upcoming Integrated Development Region in South Selangor (IDRISS) is expected to further stimulate local economic growth, positioning Sepang as an ideal base for business investment and market expansion,” she said when officiating the grand opening of MD SkinLab & Nutraceutical new factory in Sepang recently.

According to her, the Selangor state government has consistently identified the medical, health, self-care and nutraceutical industries as key pillars of the future economy.

“This sector not only plays an important role in improving public health and quality of life, but also drives economic growth at both state and national levels through technology and innovation, while creating significant employment opportunities,” she said.

Also present at the event were MD Health Sdn Bhd founder Datuk Chan Choon Lai, co-founder Dr Cheerine Law Shei Film and chief operating officer Datin Wennee Tan Pei Wen; Ratna Salsabella Ismail (represented Sepang MP Datuk Aiman Athirah); Sepang district health officer Dr Fairus Zana Mohd Rathi (represented Selangor health director Dr Ummi Kalthom Shamsudin); and Dengkil Police Station chief inspector Hor Ming Jai.

Ani Ahmad said MD Health’s decision to establish a new manufacturing facility in Selangor, particularly in Sepang, reflects strong confidence in the state’s investment environment and will generate positive economic impact and employment opportunities for Selangor and the Sepang district.

“Such value-creating investments further reinforce Selangor’s position as a preferred destination for health and nutraceutical industry investments,” she added.

Ani Ahmad said the Sepang Municipal Council will continue to work closely with the state government to support investors and entrepreneurs, including MD Health, by providing a conducive and competitive investment environment, as well as market access support through state agencies.

Meanwhile, MD Health founder Datuk Chan said the commissioning of the new factory and additional production lines will significantly boost production capacity, enabling the company to further expand into overseas markets.

He revealed that MD Health is also planning to undertake an Initial Public Offering (IPO) on the Nasdaq in the United States in the first half of 2027, aimed at accelerating international business expansion and enhancing the company’s access to global capital and markets.

“The IPO process is expected to take more than a year. We are actively ensuring that the company is in optimal condition to achieve our listing target in the first half of 2027. While this will depend on global economic conditions, we remain confident of achieving this goal,” he said.

Chan added that the new facility is not merely a production plant, but a comprehensive hub integrating innovation, research and product design. It houses advanced R&D laboratories, experienced chemists and research teams, and has the capability to provide customized manufacturing services for multiple brands.

He said MD SkinLab & Nutraceutical aims to continue playing a leading role in the nutraceutical industry in Selangor, Malaysia and internationally, while leveraging the new factory to enhance production capacity, create employment opportunities and strengthen local supply chain development.
