The ICW and BuildXpo 2025, held from Oct 28 to 30 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec), Kuala Lumpur, signals Malaysia’s leadership in shaping a resilient, sustainable and digitally driven construction future for ASEAN.
The event, comprising the 27th International Construction Week (ICW) and the third edition of Malaysia’s International Building and Construction Industry Showcase (BuildXpo), featured over 350 exhibition booths with 200 companies from 10 countries.

Hosted by the Ministry of Works, and jointly organised by the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Malaysia and Qube Integrated Malaysia Sdn Bhd, this year’s edition themed “Constructing the Future of ASEAN”, anchors Malaysia’s leadership as ASEAN Chair 2025, highlighting the country’s commitment to regional collaboration, sustainability and digital transformation within the construction ecosystem.

In his officiating speech, Works Minister Dato Sri Alexander Nanta Linggi said the ICW & BuildXpo 2025 demonstrated Malaysia’s determination to drive innovation and inclusivity across ASEAN’s construction landscape.
“This year’s ICW takes place during a pivotal moment, Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship in 2025. Aptly themed ‘Constructing the Future of ASEAN’, the event echoes our shared aspiration to build a region that is sustainable, digital, and inclusive. Across ASEAN, infrastructure remains a cornerstone of progress,” he said.
“The Asian Development Bank estimates that ASEAN requires about USD 2.8 trillion in infrastructure investment between 2016 and 2030, roughly USD 184 billion annually. Under Malaysia’s ASEAN stewardship, the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Strategic Plan 2026 – 2030 aligns the region’s infrastructure goals with global sustainability standards, fostering resilience and regional connectivity for a low-carbon, future-ready ASEAN,” he added.

The opening ceremony on Oct 29 drew over 1,000 delegates, including senior officials from ASEAN member states, China and the Middle East, alongside representatives from government agencies, industry associations, academia and the private sector.
CIDB chairman Dato Ir. Haji Yusuf Haji Abd Wahab said the strong international turnout affirms ICW’s position as a regional platform for innovation and collaboration.
“ICW 2025 is not merely an exhibition; it is a living knowledge hub, where industry professionals, educators, and innovators come together to share ideas, explore technologies, and spark collaboration. This year’s programme has been curated to cater to every segment of our construction ecosystem – from students and young professionals to practitioners and global experts,” he said.
CIDB’s ongoing initiatives were highlighted, including green building promotion, digital adoption and talent development, in line with the National Construction Policy (NCP) 2030 and Construction 4.0 Strategic Plan.

Qube Integrated Malaysia executive chairman Richard Teo reiterated ICW & BuildXpo’s impact as a platform for the industry, and its plans for growth.
“At Qube, our vision has always been clear – to create meaningful platforms where innovation meets opportunity, and where businesses can connect, collaborate and grow. Looking forward, we are committed to expanding BuildXpo’s international footprint and presence.
“Our collaboration with GlassTech Asia & Fenestration Asia (GAFA) 2026, which will further elevate Malaysia’s profile in the global built environment. GAFA, organised by Messe Munchen International (MMI) Asia Pte Ltd, is an exciting showcase that will be held in conjunction with BuildXpo 2026,” he said.

The ceremony was followed by the launch of the Malaysian Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) Roadmap 2030 by the Ministry of Works, and the formalisation of the collaboration on the Construction Digital Maturity Index (CDMI) Programme, and the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between CIDB and Lembaga Perumahan dan Hartanah Perak (LPHP).
The return of Gamuda Berhad as a key industry partner reaffirmed its commitment to advancing innovation and sustainability in the construction sector, while global professional services firm Turner & Townsend headlined the International Construction Transformation Conference (ICTC), offering insights into ASEAN construction trends and the rapidly expanding data centre industry.

The event also featured participation from ASEAN, Sarawak and Sabah Pavilions, as well as international exhibitors from China, Korea, Japan and Europe. In total, over 350 booths showcased the latest construction technologies, materials and systems.
Through the International Sourcing Programme (INSP) jointly organised with the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade), Malaysian companies engaged in B2B sessions with 17 international buyers from 12 countries and territories, fostering export opportunities and regional partnerships.

A major highlight was the groundbreaking exhibition of a modular home unit by Scandinavian Industrialised Building Systems (SIBS), a global leader in modular construction technology, partnering CIDB IBS for the BuildXpo 2025.
BuildXpo 2025 is endorsed by Matrade and supported by CIDB’s key agencies, including CIDB IBS, e-Construct, CREAM and CLAB, as well as Kementerian Belia dan Sukan, Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), Perkeso and over 20 industry associations.
