Genting Malaysia Berhad, a leisure and hospitality corporation, was recognised as ‘Halal Champion of Pahang’ for two of its F&B establishments at the launch of Halal on Track @ Pahang 2024 at Dewan Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah in Kuantan.
The two F&B establishments, located at SkyAvenue in Resorts World Genting, are Jom Makan SkyAvenue at Level G and Jom Makan Street Food at Level 4.
The Halal Champion award was conferred by the Pahang Islamic Religious Council (JAIP), following the halal status submission and evaluation of Resorts World Genting-owned-and-managed, Jom Makan SkyAvenue and Jom Makan Street Food’s daily operations, training and documentation.
Genting Malaysia emerged in the Top 10 out of 1,500 halal status nominations.
Resorts World Genting internal halal chairman and assistant F&B manager Rajis Othman received the award from Deputy Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi at the launch event.
Halal-compliant Jom Makan SkyAvenue and Jom Makan Street Food are Resorts World Genting’s large scale, food court-style eateries offering an assortment of authentic Malaysian street food.
Both outlets are popular with the large numbers of visitors to Malaysia’s top mountain resort for their quick-service, abundance of choices and reasonable prices.
The chefs at these outlets prepare dishes to exacting traditional recipes, some of which have been in the resort’s food archives for over 60 years.
“We are extremely pleased to have been recognised as the Halal Champion of Pahang. This timely award demonstrates Genting Malaysia’s dedication to halal practices in F&B whilst focusing on inclusivity, quality and convenience.
“This is without a doubt a significant milestone that gives us a firm footing to further expand on our halal offerings at Resorts World Genting,” said Spencer Lee, Resorts World Genting executive vice president of sales, marketing and public relations.
Halal on Track @ Pahang is a manifestation of the commitment of the federal and state governments, through collaboration between the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) and the Pahang Islamic Religious Council (JAIP) in strengthening Malaysia’s halal certification.
The program aims to implement industry-friendly approaches that provide necessary support to entrepreneurs to increase consumer confidence of their food products’ compliance to Islamic dietary laws.
Jom Makan Street Food is famed for its Nasi Briyani, Nasi Goreng Kampong, Naan with Tandoori Set and Char Kway Teow, whilst Jom Makan SkyAvenue offers amongst its more popular specialties, Nasi Kandar Kari Kambing, Nasi Lemak Bungkus, Mi Kari and Lotus Curry Bun.
