NCT Group marked Earth Day with a Mangrove Tree Planting Programme at the Kuala Selangor Nature Park, aimed at coastal restoration and climate resilience through the rehabilitation of degraded mangrove ecosystems.
Organised in collaboration with the Malaysian Nature Society, the programme brought together 80 participants, including employees and their families who collectively planted 320 mangrove saplings at the park.
The initiative aims to protect coastal ecosystems from erosion, boost biodiversity and support local livelihoods.

Beyond its environmental value, the initiative also reflected the Social dimension of NCT’s ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) commitment by creating opportunities for employee and family engagement through a meaningful shared activity.
By involving families, the programme not only helped restore fragile coastal environments, but also strengthened bonds among participants, fostered environmental awareness across generations and nurtured a shared sense of responsibility towards community and nature.
The programme began with an educational session highlighting the ecological importance of mangroves, followed by a guided planting activity with hands-on experience, offering participants an engaging, experiential learning opportunity to understand the vital role mangroves play in protecting coastlines from erosion, supporting biodiversity and serving as one of the world’s most efficient natural carbon sinks.

NCT Group founder and group managing director Dato’ Sri Yap Ngan Choy said their commitment to sustainability focuses on actionable environmental protection rather than just intent.
“Through initiatives such as this mangrove planting programme, we are contributing to nature-based climate solutions while fostering a culture of responsibility among our people and communities.
“We remain dedicated to driving meaningful, long-term impact in line with our ESG priorities,” he said.

NCT Group has taken active steps to combat climate change and support marine ecosystem preservation by focusing on mangrove restoration, directly aligning with UN SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 14 (Life Below Water).
The programme also reflects NCT’s commitment to Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17), highlighting the importance of cross-sector collaboration in advancing sustainable development and delivering long-term environmental impact.
The mangrove planting initiative is a key part of NCT’s broader ESG Roadmap, designed to ensure measurable and long-term impact.
Anchored on three key pillars – Empowering Communities, Protecting the Environment and Promoting Inclusive Growth, NCT Group has taken tangible steps to integrate environmental stewardship, community wellbeing, and sustainable growth into its operations, aiming to foster ecological and social resilience.
Through these efforts, NCT strives to align its corporate growth with the betterment of society and the environment through the integration of environmental stewardship, social responsibility and economic viability, ensuring sustainable long-term value creation.
