Malaysian street dancers Marcus Lim Yeow Hwee, 26, from Johor Bahru, and Kayllash Thiagarajan, 19, from Kuala Lumpur, have been named as the wildcards for the Red Bull Dance Your Style Regional Finals in Singapore on April 25, 2026.
Both dancers will represent Malaysia in the Southeast Asia regional competition featuring talent from Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, Vietnam and Singapore.
The winner of the regional final earns a spot at the Red Bull Dance Your Style World Final in Zurich, Switzerland, in October 2026.
Marcus Lim and Kayllash Thiagarajan secured their spots following the Asia Tour stop in Kuala Lumpur, which included workshops and performances by 2023 champion Waackxxxy from South Korea, 2022 champion The D Soraki from Japan, Majid from Germany and Poppin C from Switzerland, bringing world-class expertise directly to the local community.
Marcus said it was a huge honor to represent Malaysia at the first-ever Red Bull Dance Your Style Southeast Asia Regional Finals.
“I do feel some pressure because I’m representing the entire Malaysian dance scene, but I’m mostly excited to share my style.
“Our dance culture is special because of our mix of influences – there is so much individuality and passion here, and I really want the world to see that side of Malaysia,” he said.

For Kayllash, being selected for a final marks a massive personal and professional milestone, a testament to his hardwork, dedication and expertise.
“I feel honored and grateful for the opportunity. Since it’s my first time joining Red Bull Dance Your Style, this is a completely new experience for me. I think this shows that the Malaysian dance scene has come a long way and we are finally getting the recognition we deserve.
“For my preparation, I’m just staying true to myself and being as honest as possible through my dance,” he said.
Beyond their personal victories, Marcus and Kayllash advancing to the Red Bull Dance Your Style Regional Finals is proof that Malaysia’s street dance community is ready to stand alongside the world’s best, bringing its own unique flavor and energy to the international spotlight.

The KL stop of the tour saw the international guest dancers fully immersed themselves in the local scene, from touring the iconic Batu Caves and learning traditional Mak Yong dance to hosting workshops on April 6 for Malaysian dancers and a public showcase on April 7 at Lot 10, Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, elevating Malaysia’s street dance scene.

During their visit, the global dancers have also crowned Marcus Lim and Kayllash as Malaysian wild cards for their unique styles and stage presence.
“Learning the Mak Yong was one of the highlights of this tour. The movements were so beautiful. It gave me a new perspective on Malaysian culture,” Waackxxxy said about the Malay traditional dance theatre Mak Yong.
“It is my first time in Malaysia, and I’ve been surprised by the level of skill here,” said Majid after the workshop. “There are some really solid dancers in this scene who have a lot of potential. My advice to the dancers here is to just stay consistent, be yourself, and keep that hunger.”
