ShopeePay Malaysia has officially partnered with Zurich Life Insurance Malaysia Berhad (ZLIMB) as its first digital distribution platform partner to roll out embedded insurance products directly inside the Shopee and ShopeePay apps.
The partnership was marked at the “Everyday Protection, Made For All” ceremony held at the W Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on Oct 7, 2026.
Coinciding with this partnership, the company also unveiled the Zurich Savings & Protection Plan, an endowment-style policy available directly through the ShopeePay app.
The partnership aims to make financial protection and savings more accessible to everyday Malaysians by bringing these solutions into a digital platform that is already part of their daily lives.
By making it easier to take steps towards both financial security and future financial goals, the collaboration seeks to help more Malaysians build greater financial resilience.
This single-premium, two-year solution allows users to build short-term savings while securing life and disability coverage. The plan features accessible entry points and a structured payout mechanism.
The expanded alliance is built on previous collaborations with Zurich General Insurance Malaysia Berhad and Zurich General Takaful Malaysia Berhad, while extending its digital distribution partnership to ZLIMB for the first time. ShopeePay users will now have access to life insurance products directly through the app as well.
ShopeePay Malaysia head Alain Yee said that while general insurance and general takaful traditionally offer vital protections and safety nets, the inclusion of ZLIMB plans on ShopeePay allows users to proactively build savings, receive regular guaranteed cash payouts, and lower the barriers to entry for long-term financial security
“We look forward to strengthening our partnership with ZLIMB while expanding our range of protection offerings with Zurich Takaful Malaysia Berhad in the coming year.
“Together, we aim to make quality protection more affordable, understandable, and accessible to the communities that need it most,” he said.
In his remarks, Zurich Malaysia country chief executive officer Junior Cho emphasized that addressing the nation’s protection gap requires improving access by meeting consumers within their existing daily digital ecosystems.
“Today’s launch of the Zurich Savings & Protection Plan on Shopee and ShopeePay apps gives Malaysians a simpler way to not only protect their future but also build it, all within a digital ecosystem they already know and trust.
“This builds on the earlier introduction of Zurich Critical Illness insurance, which protects against serious health events. Users now have more options to both safeguard and grow their financial future,” he said.
Cho added that the company will extend this user-friendly digital distribution model from conventional insurance into family takaful, giving more Malaysians the accessibility of Syariah-compliant financial safety nets.
“We look forward to working with ShopeePay Malaysia to achieve new milestones and create a brighter future for more Malaysians, together.”
The Zurich Savings & Protection Plan is a two-year endowment product with an entry premium starting at RM500, with future plans to lower the entry barrier down to RM100.
Policyholders receive a guaranteed cash return every six months throughout the tenure. The plan also provides life and disability protection equivalent to 105% of the premium paid.
Users will also receive 100% of their principal at the end of the two-year maturity period. The plan includes flexible early cash-out options.
