Sungei Wang Plaza unveils “Rising Dragon: Celebrating Spring Prosperity” Chinese New Year celebrations.

Sungei Wang Plaza, Kuala Lumpur ushers in Chinese New Year with “Rising Dragon: Celebrating Spring Prosperity” theme.

From now until Feb 25, 2024, this 38-day festive campaign celebration promises an immersive experience filled with festivities, shopping and cultural delights.

The mall is transformed with colourful decorations, adorned with vibrant blossom flowers and elegant bamboo accents.

The centrepiece of this enchanting spectacle is the 27-foot-high 3D Rising Dragon statue at Centre Court, symbolizing prosperity in Chinese culture. Red Chinese lanterns are hanging at every corner of the mall and cross a decorative bridge, symbolizing good fortune.

Sungei Wang Plaza Management Corporation chairman Michelle Siew said the “Rising Dragon: Celebrating Spring Prosperity” campaign reflected its dedication to providing the ultimate experience for shoppers.

“This Chinese New Year, we have curated a festive ambience, complete with a bustling Chinese New Year Market, enchanting decorations, delightful redemptions, and engaging activities that embody the spirit of this auspicious season,” she said.

The grand launch of the “Rising Dragon: Celebrating Spring Prosperity” was officiated by Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kai Lun and Michelle Siew on Jan 19, 2024.

The launch featured awards-winning Chinese drumming and acrobatic lion dance performances, and a “yee sang” tossing. Additionally, artistes Amy Chan, Ricky Lim, Meeki and Henn made a guest appearance and kept audience engaged to generate awareness and promote the forthcoming “Let’s Celebrate CNY Concert 2024” scheduled for February 19.

The launch event concluded with the special Chinese New Year song “NeNeNeBuBu” performance by uncle and niece duo Estelle and XiaoJiu.

Siew expressed her appreciation to Magnum being the event main sponsor for its continuous support in cultural, tourism, and social responsibility endeavours over the years.

“We affirmed our commitment to offering a platform for individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds to come together, exchange ideas and partake in the various festival celebrations that showcase Malaysia’s rich heritage,” she added.

A line-up of exciting events and activities adds up festive atmosphere to the New Year throughout the campaign period, including lion and dragon dance performances, singing competition, ukulele performance, kids and teens modeling workshop and fashion show.

Also, shoppers who spot God of Prosperity during the first three days of Chinese New Year are expected to receive good fortune in the Year of the Dragon.

In addition, Chinese New Year artistes album meet-and-greet including Angeline as well as Nick Chung and Stella Chung, will be happening during the campaign.

At the CNY Marketplace, spread across both sides of centre court and main entrance foyer, shoppers can explore a diverse selection of traditional and modern items, from tea and decorative pieces to cookies, dried meats, leather goods, accessories, cheongsam and perfumes.

Shoppers who spend a minimum of RM188 in a maximum of two receipts can redeem a set of Year of Dragon red packets. For those who spend a minimum of RM388 in a maximum of two receipts, can redeem a Spring Prosperity flower shaped dessert bowl set.
