Coffee consumption is gaining popularity in Asia Pacific, including in Malaysia, as more consumers need their coffee fix on a daily basis.

While many coffee drinkers prefer black coffee in its most natural form, coffee consumption behaviours have evolved over the years. Recent trends such as Dalgona coffee have shown that consumers continue to be interested in experimenting with new coffee-based concoctions, but these caffeinated beverages tend to be high in sugar, fat and calories.

For instance, a typical Dalgona coffee made with two tablespoons of instant coffee, two tablespoons of white sugar and one cup of fresh milk contains a whopping 374 calories and nine grams of fat. These calorie-laden coffee options, when consumed on a regular basis over time, can cause unnecessary weight gain.

With the global pandemic giving rise to greater health awareness, consumers are prioritising their health and general well-being, and have become more conscious about what they feed their bodies with. This has resulted in a rising demand for healthier diets and snacks.

High Protein Premix Coffee – The Alternative for guilt-free indulgences

There is an alternative that tastes great, while being quick to make, and packed with protein supplementation and energy all in one – Herbalife Nutrition’s High Protein Premix Coffee (HPPC). Comprising 15 grams of protein – about one-third of a typical adult’s recommended protein intake – but with only 80 calories in a single serving, HPPC is the ideal mid-morning or mid-afternoon snack, which can be enjoyed as a guiltless indulgence while providing an energy lift for the rest of the day.

Compared with coffee drinks prepared in local eateries which usually contain sugar or condensed milk, the HPPC would be a great choice.

The lowdown on coffee and protein

Most consumers drink coffee largely because they enjoy the taste or need a caffeine fix. In fact, drinking coffee can also provide many health benefits. Studies have shown that higher coffee intake has been associated with providing neuro and cardiovascular protection through the over 1,000 chemical compounds present in coffee.

On top of that, high protein coffees also provide additional health benefits. As one of the basic building blocks of the body, protein helps build and repair body tissues, and is essential for growth and development. Besides that, protein provides amino acids necessary for protein synthesis.

At Herbalife Nutrition, we believe that good nutrition should be convenient, easily accessible and delicious; this is why we continue to innovate and develop products like HPPC, which tastes just as good as store-bought coffee, with added protein, but without the high calories.
