REXKL’s new immersive art gallery brings first digital exhibit ‘Other World’

Rexperience (RXP.KL), an immersive art gallery in the former Rex cinema hall on Jalan Sulan Kuala Lumpur, opens its door to the public with its first digital art exhibition, “Other World” on Sept 20, 2023.

RXP.KL seeks to transform the iconic Rex cinema space, once the cultural epicentre of Petaling Street, into a modern, immersive art space by integrating cutting-edge digital art, and making art more accessible to all.

Sébastien Jurkowski, the CEO and creative director of RXP.KL stated during the media and VIP customer launch event: “At Rexperience, we’re redefining what an art gallery can be – it’s a chance to step into a world where technology and creativity meet in amazing ways.”

Jurkowski added: “Our vision is to create exhibitions that spark discovery and inspiration amongst art lovers, young innovators, and travellers in search of genuine creative, cultural and shared experiences.”

RXP.KL’s inaugural exhibit, “Other World” takes visitors through cosmic, natural, urban, and abstract dimensions, offering a transcendent escape into realms of enchantment and creativity.

The one-hour show features three main immersive exhibits:

“Annihilation” by Colas Fiszman and Jonas Margraf is an awe-inspiring journey where dance, technology and music intertwine, creating a captivating narrative and painting a vivid picture of humanity’s complex relationship with  technology.

“Foreign Nature” by Julius Horsthuis and Ben Lukas Boysen, explores the intricate fractals that unveil the hidden geometry of the universe. These mesmerising fractals transcend mere creation, inviting you to wonder in new dimensions and discover nature’s mathematical marvels.

“Yume” by Fahmi Hosnan and Ashish Khilnani, where their traditional masterpieces come to life through projection and motion, forging a connection between past and present. From the delicate landscapes to the iconic The Great Wave off Kanagawa, experience a symphony of treasures that redefines the boundaries of artistic expression.

The “Other World” exhibition will be available for four months from September 20, 2023 to January 20, 2024. The show runs every hour from 10am to 10pm.
