Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital, Ipoh received medical equipment from IIFW

The Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB), Ipoh received RM104,000 worth of medical equipment which were purchased from funds raised through the Red Carpet Charity Gala Dinner of International Ipoh Fashion Week (IIFW) 2022 held at the Hotel Casuarina @ Meru Ipoh on October 21, last year.

The donation of the medical equipment, comprising a video flexible laryngoscope without working channel, a Fabian Therapy evolution ventilator and a pulse oximeter with reporting software, meet the needs of the hospital’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

Raja Permaisuri of Perak Tuanku Zara Salim graced the handing over ceremony of medical equipment to the hospital, held at Kompkeks Wanita Kanak-Kanak Kardiologi, HRPB on May 18, 2023.

Present at the event were Perak Menteri Besar’s wife Datin Seri Aezer Zubin, Orang Kaya Bendahara Seri Maharaja’s wife Toh Puan Datin Seri Diraja Puan Sri Hajah Rasiah Md Nor and Perak health department director Dr Sirajuddin Hashim.

Also present were HRPB director Dr Megat Iskandar Megat Abdul Hamid, HRPB head of paediatric department Dr Siti Aishah, IIFW patron and Perak Food Bank chairperson Datin Seri Dr. Nomee Ashikin Mohammed Radzi, IIFW founder and chief executive officer Louis Sebastian and IIFW co-founder and chief operations officer Adeline Khan.

After the handover ceremony, Tuanku Zara visited the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Ward, Pediatric High Dependency Unit (PHDU) Ward and Pediatric Surgical Ward in the hospital.

Louis said the initiative was part of IIFW corporate social responsibility towards the paediatric unit in Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital with a theme ‘Fashion with a Heart’.

“Apart from creating opportunities, promoting tourism and connecting people, we do our bit through God’s mercy by caring for the less fortunate,” he said.

He added, “Up to date we have raised over RM580,000 through hospital equipment purchased and over RM80,000 towards funding for local NGO’s. We will continue to appeal the support from all parties, including corporate sectors and individual donors, not forgetting table sale tickets during the Fashion with a Heart Charity Gala Dinner. This would certainly enable us to make a valuable contribution to the hospital in the near future.”

The International Ipoh Fashion Week (IIFW) is a world class fashion event held every year in Ipoh city, that gives back while showcasing international and local fashion designers with their latest collections in a series of runway shows.

IIFW 2023 Season 5 is scheduled to take place in Ipoh on December 1-3 this year.
