The Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA) organized its Chinese New Year celebration, themed “Enter the Dragon”, celebrating the Year of the Dragon at One World Hotel, Petaling Jaya on Jan 24, 2024.
The event brought together over 1,350 guests, including prominent figures, industry leaders and members of the retail community to usher in the Lunar New Year with joyous festivities.
The guest of honor at the event was the Transport Minister Anthony Loke.
MRCA CNY 2024 co-organizing chairperson Dato’ Alex Wong and Brian Tham said the MRCA Chinese New Year dinner served as a platform for fostering camaraderie, building strategic partnerships and celebrating the shared successes within the retail industry.
“This year’s event is particularly significant as it aligns with the symbolic and energetic spirit of the Dragon Year, signifying strength, prosperity, and good fortune,” they said.
During the night, MRCA Branding Education Charity Foundation chairman Datuk Seri Nelson Kwok, founder chairman Dato’ Tay Sim Kim, foundation trustees and MRCA President Dato’ Sharan Valiram presented a donation of RM25,000 to Ti-Ratana Welfare Society Malaysia founder and adviser Datuk K. Sri Dhammaratana for the Bentong Building Fund in support of their cause.
The objective of the MRCA CNY celebration was two pronged – one, provide networking opportunities for MRCA members to foster collaboration and relationship-building within the retail community; and two, promote cultural exchange among MRCA members to enhance mutual understanding and strengthen unity within the retail community, transcending cultural boundaries.
