The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (MATTA) has officially welcomed Macao as the ‘International Favourite Destination’ for the upcoming MATTA Fair April 2026, highlighting it as a top choice for culture, entertainment, cuisine, world-class experiences and Muslim-friendly travel.

The event, taking place from April 3-5, 2026 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec), Kuala Lumpur, continues to serve as Malaysia’s largest consumer travel fair, connecting travellers to global destinations and reinforcing MATTA’s commitment to driving industry growth.

MATTA research and technology vice president Mohd Hizzat Mohd Shah said welcoming Macao return as the international favourite destination at MATTA Fair reflects the growing interest among Malaysians in rediscovering world-class destinations that offer culture, entertainment, gastronomy and unique experiences.

“We want every visitor to feel the excitement of planning their next adventure, knowing that the world is waiting with open arms,” he said at a press conference announcing the selection at Mitec on March 26, 2026.

Meanwhile, Macao Government Tourism Office deputy director Cheng Wai Tong said that Macao being highlighted for the second consecutive year as the “International Favourite Destination” of MATTA Fair provides an outstanding opportunity to drive visitors flow from Malaysia as one of its priority markets in Southeast Asia.

“We will make full use of this premier platform to showcase Macao’s ‘tourism +’ offerings and present a range of special travel products tailored to Malaysian travellers,” he said.

The Macao booth themed ‘Experience Macao’ will feature the city’s diverse tourism products combining culture, sports and entertainment, highlighting Macao’s Unesco gastronomy, Muslim-friendly amenities and east-meets-west culture that blends historic traditions with modern luxury.

Additionally, the booth will hold workshops for visitors to experience Macao’s intangible cultural heritage, featuring Tai Chi and Wing Chun martial arts, and Portuguese tile painting.
