Jaecoo J5 EV makes first Malaysian public debut at pet expo

The Jaecoo J5 EV, Omoda | Jaecoo Malaysia’s first fully electric vehicle, made its first public appearance at the Oh My Meow! Expo 2026 fom July 9 to 12, 2026 at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia previewed the Jaecoo J5 EV ahead of its official launch, making its public debut at the Oh My Meow! Expo 2026, running from July 9 to 12 at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.

This marks the brand’s first fully battery electric vehicle (BEV) in the local market.

Chris Tan, head of Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia said the Jaecoo J5 EV debut underscores the brand’s commitment to sustainable mobility for Malaysian consumers.

“It’s first public appearance at Oh My Meow! Expo 2026 allows us to introduce the J5 EV in a unique lifestyle setting that perfectly complements its pet-friendly design, intelligent technologies, and everyday practicality ahead of its official launch,” he said.

“As we continue expanding our product portfolio, the Jaecoo J5 EV demonstrates our vision of delivering smarter, more sustainable mobility solutions without compromising on comfort, versatility and the adventurous spirit that defines the Jaecoo brand,” Tan added.

The J5 EV is powered by a 155 kW electric motor, a 58.9 kWh CATL Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery and a 402 km WLTP range.

The front-mounted electric motor produces 211 PS and 288 Nm of torque

The J5 EV caters specifically to pet owners through specialized cabin features and pet-focused utility, making it an ideal choice for animal lovers.

Its thoughtful, pet-centric design includes globally TÜV-certified, low-VOC, and anti-bacterial vegan leatherette that resists damage from anxious claws and prevents odours, and a dedicated “Pet Mode” to keep the air conditioning securely running while you step away.

The J5 EV is equipped with a Level 2+ Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). Its 19 intelligent safety features include Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), and an expansive 540-degree camera that provides a “see-through” chassis view to eliminate blind spots, while the 13.2-inch 2K screen acts as the digital hub.

The SUV features a 35-litre front trunk (frunk), a 480-litre rear boot  and 35 strategic storage spaces throughout the cabin.

While an official launch date and pricing are yet to be announced for the Malaysian market, the Jaecoo J5 EV is expected to hit the roads soon
