Dr. Lavanya Sivaji who won the coveted title of Miss World Malaysia 2021 on October 16 received her crown in a closed-door coronation ceremony of Miss World Malaysia 2021 held at Ceres Jewels showroom on November 1, 2021.
The 25-year-old medical graduate took the title while participating at home when she was announced the winner during the virtual Miss World Malaysia 2021 grand coronation night held on HyperLive Entertainment’s online television platform Hyperlive.tv.
Dr. Lavanya was handed the RM4 million star-studded bespoke crown by Miss World Malaysia 2019 Alexis SueAnn, who had a two-year reign since the Miss World Malaysia festival was cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The reigning beauty queen was further presented with an exquisite marquise diamond ring crafted in 18k yellow gold, with a marquise yellow diamond, 0.5 carat and 30 round diamonds, 0.28 carat, sponsored by Ceres.
The crowning ceremony was conducted under the cloud of the pandemic in a low-key affair attended by a few select invites, in strict adherence to standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by relevant authorities.
Miss World Malaysia Festival’s national director Sean Wong said they are thankful for the overwhelming support received for this year’s edition of Miss World Malaysia.
“Faced with the challenges organising large-scale physical events this year, our team has made a swift decision to run the show in an entirely new virtual format, leveraging on a new live streaming platform HyperLive.tv, which presented a unique opportunity for us to pivot into digitalisation effectively.
“The safety of our contestants was our top priority, so we produced the high profile show creatively with all 37 finalists showcasing their talents by live streaming via their mobile phones at the comfort of their own homes. We have not even met the contestants physically, not even once,” he said.
