The 59th national Matta Fair officially opened at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) in Kuala Lumpur on Sept 5, 2026, riding on Malaysia’s strongest tourism momentum in years.
Malaysia recorded 42.2 million international visitors in 2025, representing an 11.2% increase from 2024. This positive momentum has continued into 2026, with 21.2 million international arrivals in the first half of the year.
The ongoing Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) campaign aims for high visitor numbers, targeting 47 million international tourist arrivals and up to RM147.1 billion in tourism receipts by year-end, and this edition of the National Matta Fair aims to directly contribute to that push.

Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) and RHB Bank returns as official airline partner and premier sponsor; and official bank partner respectively.
MAG anchors an expansive MAG Arena offering exclusive deals and up to 30% off flights on Malaysia Airlines, Firefly and Amal; and featuring rewards and packages from Enrich, Journify and MHholidays.

“The positive tourism performance we are seeing this year is encouraging and presents opportunities for the entire tourism industry. We are actively seeking to build on this progress by making travel more accessible and trustworthy,” said Matta president Nigel Wong.
“As a strategic partner to Visit Malaysia 2026, Matta will continue working closely with the Government and our industry partners to support the national tourism agenda and promote Malaysia as a preferred destination for travellers,” added Wong.

The three-day fair (Sept 4-6) offers over 2,000 booths from 306 participating organisations, including licensed travel agencies, hotels, airlines and national/state tourism boards, featuring global destinations, domestic tourism packages and exclusive travel deals.
Admission to Matta Fair is free and is open from 10am to 9pm.
Free shuttle services are provided for visitors travelling between KL Sentral or Sunway Putra Mall to Mitec.
