McDonald’s Malaysia celebrates Syawal by strengthening community connection nationwide

From L-R: McDonald’s Malaysia vice president and chief development officer Abdul Hamid Ahmad, managing director and local operating partner Dato’ Azmir Jaafar, corporate communications director Shamsidar Yahya and chief marketing officer Chin Mei Lee at the launch of Raya Mekdi 2026 Open House at McDonald’s Bandar Baru Bangi Drive-Thru, Selangor on April 3, 2026.

McDonald’s Malaysia continues the spirit of giving and togetherness this Syawal with a series of community outreach programmes at selected locations nationwide.

The initiative reflects the company’s commitment to supporting local communities and creating meaningful moments for Malaysians to celebrate Aidilfitri, following their numerous community initiatives to support vulnerable individuals, foster unity and promote the giving spirit throughout the month of Ramadan.

These initiatives, carried out by McDonald’s Malaysia during the Ramadan month, included providing ‘moreh’ meals to 300 mosques and suraus nationwide, hosting iftar gatherings with children from nearby orphanages and distributing Ramadan Kits to families and children at the Ronald McDonald House.

This year, McDonald’s Sampul Raya packets featured hand-drawn designs by children from Ronald McDonald House, showcasing their creativity and festive spirit.

McDonald’s Malaysia managing director and local operating partner Dato’ Azmir Jaafar said the celebrations are opportunities to reinforce community bonds, foster togetherness and support one another.

“It has long been part of our McDonald’s tradition to give back to the communities around us during Ramadan, continuing into the month of Syawal,” he said.

“Hari Raya is a time to open our hearts and homes, and to cherish the relationships that matter most. Through these celebrations, we hope to extend that same spirit of warmth and generosity to the communities we serve, creating moments of togetherness that truly reflect the meaning of Raya,” he added.

The celebrations kicked off on April 3 at McDonald’s Bandar Baru Bangi Drive-Thru, alongside Tampin Drive-Thru and Kuala Kangsar Drive-Thru, before continuing at other selected locations nationwide.

These celebrations feature 1,000 complimentary Chicken Foldover meal sets at each location, live entertainment and games, with nationwide events running until April 17, 2026.

Restaurants are brought to life with festive decorations, kompang performances, traditional joget dances and interactive games with McDonald’s mascots.

Various artistes such as Hael, Merqeen, SonaOne, Alyph, Dayang Nur Faizah and Nadeera Zaini will appear at selected locations.
