Slim Chickens makes Asia debut in Malaysia

From L-R: NU Sentral head of retail Alice You, Slim Chickens Malaysia’s operation manager Sanggari Athimulam, its marketing director Shuen Chiu and halal, supply chain and quality assurance manager Amirul Ashraf Ravi during the ribbon cutting ceremony.

Slim Chickens Malaysia officially launched its Asian debut in Malaysia and celebrated the opening of its second outlet at NU Sentral, Kuala Lumpur on April 8, 2026.

The grand opening celebration featured a captivating lion dance performance and a ribbon-cutting ceremony, bringing joy, excitement and a vibrant festive atmosphere.

The globally recognised fast-casual dining brand opened its first outlet in 2025 in SS15, Subang Jaya.

Slim Chickens is renowned for its Southern-inspired fast-casual dining experience, featuring freshly prepared chicken tenders, curated house sauces and time-limited menu offerings tailored to local tastes.

Slim Chickens Malaysia specializes in fresh, hand-breaded, buttermilk-marinated chicken tenders, wings and 12 signature dipping sauces.

Slim Chickens Malaysia marketing director Shuen Chiu said the Malaysian launch marked the start of a regional expansion, with plans to expand its footprint in Malaysia by opening more outlets over the next two to three years.

“Today’s launch marks the debut of Slim Chickens in Asia, kicking off the brand’s sustainable long-term expansion plan across the region. In Malaysia, we aim to open at least another 9-12 outlets over the next 2-3 years,” she said.

Chiu said Slim Chickens stands in a category of its own – the fast-casual chicken tenders category.

“We are not a fast food, Korean-fry or grilled chicken restaurant. Our focus is on creating light, crisp, flavourful, juicy tenders from authentic fresh chicken tenders, paired with a variety of 12 house-made sauces for different tastes, in an environment that’s fun to hang out with friends and family alike.”

She noted that Malaysians have very discerning food tastes, highlighting the high returning customer rate at its first outlet in Subang Jaya.

“Our biggest fans are those who understand and care about quality and flavour. We have been motivated by this and will continue to deliver premium craveable food with the best quality, clean flavours and consistency, at an affordable price.”

Chiu said a huge part of Slim Chickens is also about Southern hospitality – kindness, warmth, building and welcoming communities into the ‘home’, alongside a strong product focus.

“We believe that food brings people together, and that’s part of our focus for our growth,” she said.
