Plant-based milk brand Oatside has launched a new high-protein soy milk called Nobo, designed for the modern wellness-conscious consumers.

Two variants (Nobo Soy and Nobo Almond Soy) of the soy milk were unveiled at the event held at Fung Wong Biscuits and Floccus Floccus, Kuala Lumpur on March 12, 2026.

Nobo Soy is the original and lightly roasted classic, while Nobo Almond Soy features a creamy, high-protein soy base blended with dark roasted almond grounds.

In a statement, Oatside founder and chief executive officer Benedict Lim said significant time were devoted to sourcing the right soybeans and eventually chose non-GMO, high-protein beans from Canada for their nutrition and flavour.

“From there, it was about developing a process that could pack more soybeans per pack to deliver a creamier texture and higher protein levels without adding ingredients like gums, emulsifiers, oils or protein powders.

“Ultimately, our philosophy with Nobo is to be minimalist, and allow soy’s natural richness and nutrition to shine through without unnecessary additives,” he said.

Nobo Soy highlights a “modern” take on traditional soy milk, aiming to make it appealing to younger consumers through a stylish and transparent, “honest” brand image.

The new products are specifically designed to be enjoyed chilled and straight from the pack for convenience and freshness.

Nobo Soy Milk delivers 4.2g/100ml of protein which is almost double of typical packed soy milk and about 40% more than dairy milk, achieved through double-extraction of non-GMO high protein Canadian soybeans.

It also has less sugar (<5g/100ml) and a lower beanie taste achieved with flash-cooling technology, with no added oils, emulsifiers or gums.

Across Asia, there is an increasing focus on nutrition and in particular, protein consumption, with the wellness-generation keen on improving health and longevity.

Soybeans are a traditional staple and also a nutrient-dense, plant-based superfood, rich in proteins with a complete essential amino acid profile, fiber, antioxidants and omega 3-6-9.

Central to the Nobo Soy brand is its unique double extraction technology, using selected non-GMO Canadian soybeans, and a precise process of cooking and flash cooling. This method removes the beany aroma from soy milk while preserving its natural protein properties to achieve a clean, lightly roasted and naturally creamy soy milk, delivering a clean balanced taste designed to remove the traditional “beany” aftertaste.

Nobo Soy’s design philosophy aims to “hero” the soybean, treating it as an iconic, premium ingredient in its own right rather than a simple commodity.

From its minimalist design to its cultural partnerships, Nobo Soy aims to be a brand people crave, post about and proudly pour.

Bringing this idea to life, Nobo Soy has collaborated with Vietnam-based fashion brand Chautfifth to create a handbag shaped like Nobo’s soy bean mascot.

The bag is available for purchase on chautfifth.com from March 16, 2026 while stocks last. New designs with more compact sizes and a wider range of colourways will also be introduced at a later date.

Following the launch, the special collaboration pastry menu is available to the public at Fung Wong Biscuits and Floccus Floccus from March 12 to April 12.  The menu highlights six innovative soy-based treats, including Soy Roll No. 01, Gem Bites No. 02, Soy Tart No. 03, Mochi No. 04, Thousand Layers No. 05 and Soy Silk No. 06. These items are designed to elevate familiar flavours with Nobo’s creamy, high-protein soy milk.

Nobo Soy is available at major retailers and e-commerce platforms in Malaysia in 180ml and 1L formats.
