BYD has expanded its presence in Penang and Johor Bahru with the opening of two new BYD Centres, marking the Chinese automaker’s continued expansion in Malaysia.
The two new BYD Centres are located in Gurney Plaza shopping mall in Georgetown, Penang, and in The Mall, Mid Valley Southkey in Johor Bahru, Johor.
Developed by Sime Darby Motors’ subsidiary, Sime Darby Beyond Auto, the centres provide convenient accessibility to sales and aftersales services.
Sime Darby Motors is the official exclusive distributor of China’s BYD passenger electric vehicles (EVs) in Malaysia.
Jeffrey Gan, managing director of Sime Darby Motors Retail and Distribution – Southeast Asia, Hong Kong and Macau, said, “The response to BYD in the Malaysian market has been overwhelmingly positive, clearly demonstrating growing adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) in the country.”
BYD Malaysia Sdn Bhd and PT. BYD Motor Indonesia managing director Eagle Zhao remaked, “The aggressive expansion of BYD’s network in Malaysia shows positive growth for EV prospects in the country, as more Malaysians recognise BYD’s brand presence and the benefits of EV.”
BYD customers from the northern and southern region can now enjoy various amenities at these new showrooms and aftersales service at Jalan Sungai Pinang in Penang and Jalan Skudai Kiri in Johot Bahru.
The after-sales service centres are equipped to provide diagnostic support for accurate car maintenance and service needs.
Apart from the new showrooms at Penang’s Gurney Plaza and Johor’s Mid Valley Southkey, BYD Sime Darby Beyond Auto’s showrooms that are located within the Klang Valley include its flagship showroom in Ara Damansara, Petaling Jaya and the first in Kuala Lumpur at TREC, Jalan Tun Razak.
