SELANGOR – The return of the iconic Jimny comes with stylish new features with subtle changes, including the engine hood, front bumper and front grilles, which have been newly designed to exude strength.
Suzuki Malaysia Automobile (SMA) launched a fresh-faced Suzuki Jimny – a compact 4×4 and brand favourite since its first appearance in 1968 at Empire Subang in Subang Jaya on Nov 13, 2013.
The return of the iconic Jimny comes with stylish new features with subtle changes, including the engine hood, front bumper and front grilles, which have been newly designed to exude strength.
“We believe the new Jimny will see a revival of interest and attract many new customers to Suzuki,” said Suzuki Malaysia Automobile managing director Keiichi Suzuki.
Also present at the launch were Suzuki Malaysia Automobile chairman Tan Sri Marzuki Mohd Noor, deputy managing director Shinya Yokokawa and DRB-Hicom automotive and defence group director Dato’ Abdul Harith Abdullah.
Malaysia’s talented musicians violinist Dennis Lau together with beatboxer Koujee put on a great performance during the launch.
The Jimny has been a member of the Suzuki family for over four decades. It was first introduced into the Malaysian market in 1979 with over 20,000 units sold. In 1984, the Jimny was locally assembled and production ended in 2000.
The new version Jimny is compact, lightweight and agile and powered by a 1.3L M13A DOCH engine which delivers plenty of torque (110Nm @ 4,100 rpm) and quick response in any environment.
With the Drive Action 4×4 system, it is capable of shifting between 2WD on city streets and 4WD on country terrain with the touch of a button at speeds of up to 100km/h.
Priced at RM84,888 (manual) and RM89,888 (auto) on-the-road without insurance, the Jimny is available in four colors: silky silver metallic, superior white, prime ever green, and metallic quasar gray.
