In this the season of joy, STM Lottery Sdn Bhd (formerly known as Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn Bhd) threw a Christmas party on December 17, 2022 for the Christian Orang Asli community in Rawang, Selangor.

The early Christmas party was attended by more than 300 guests from Kampung Sungai Kelubi in Rawang, as well as Orang Asli groups from Gombak in Selangor and Raub in Pahang,

The event was organized by Strategic Methods and Ongoing Achievements Bhd (SEMOA), a non-governmental organization that helps to improve the living standard of the Orang Asli community in the country.

“STM Lottery is very pleased to see the return of the Christmas party which has been held every year for the Christian Orang Asli community but halted due to the pandemic.

“Our hope is to bring cheer to everyone including the underprivileged groups so that they can also celebrate Christmas,” said STM Lottery senior communications manager Giam Say Khoon.

Giam added, “We are also very proud of SEMOA for continuing their good work rain or shine in providing better quality of life to the Orang Asli community and most importantly making the indigenous community understand the importance of sending their children to school to receive education.”

STM Lottery has contributed RM30,000 to SEMOA to hold the Christmas party and hand food provisions to 800 adults as well as Christmas gifts to 500 children.

STM Lottery began to support SEMOA’s Christmas party since 2013, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility and sustainability initiative under the Helping Hands programme.

During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020 and 2021, the Christmas party was halted and the company had only contributed food provision to the Orang Asli community in Pahang and Selangor.
