Langkawi Island was voted as the fourth Best Island to Visit in Asia in this year’s edition of the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards 2022.
Additionally, three of the resorts on the island, namely Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, The Datai Langkawi and The St Regis Langkawi were voted as the Top 20 Resorts in Asia.
“This award proves that all our efforts in positioning and promoting the island as the most desired tourist destination in the world is paying off.
“Aside from that, we are also extremely delighted to share that we were voted by over a quarter of a million readers, making this an even more special occasion,” said Langkawi Development Authority (LADA) chief executive officer Nasaruddin Abdul Muttalib.
He continued, “It is extremely heart-warming to know that our Jewel of Kedah is appreciated by tourists from all around the globe and we will continue to put our best foot forward in ensuring Langkawi is among the frontrunners in the international tourism industry.
“We feel that the island has great potential to set us apart from others, especially with our multiple tourist attractions such as the first UNESCO listed geopark in Southeast Asia and one of the steepest cable car rides in the world topped with spectacular mountainous landscapes and crystal- clear seas. Truly unlike any other,” Nasaruddin added.
The island was included in this year’s edition of the awards and placed ahead of many other well-known destinations including Phuket (Thailand), Phú Quốc (Vietnam), Sri Lanka, Palawan (Philippines), Okinawa & Ryuku Islands (Japan) as well as Phi Phi Islands (Thailand).
