Canon Marketing Malaysia commemorated Malaysia Day with two short films shot using Canon’s cinema EOS cameras, in celebration of Malaysia’s unique mixed multiculturalism, diversity and unity.
The exclusive screening featuring the two short films took place at Golden Screen Cinema, Mid Valley Megamall, Kuala Lumpur on September 15, 2022.
“In commemoration of Malaysia Day, Canon is honoured to partner with Hundred Top Legend and Film Edge in celebrating the founding of Malaysia and the nation’s progress through the artistic expression of CinePhotography.
“We are delighted to support these two short films with our models in the Cinema EOS series – the Canon EOS R5 C – to elevate CinePhotography to greater heights and expand the possibilities for imaginative storytelling,” said Canon Marketing Malaysia image communications business division director Hunter Zhang.
He continued, “Driven by Canon’s Kyosei philosophy, we believe in working with local communities for the common good. We are determined to help create a thriving future for the Malaysian videography community by supporting and cultivating cultural improvement through local videography projects.
“Our cutting-edge technology allows both current and future generations the ability to expand Malaysia’s filming industry and explore various videographic expressions.”
The first video titled “Negaraku: Teguh Bersama” was shot in collaboration with Hundred Top Legend, a video editing company. It tells a story of three students in search of their missing Malaysia flag; and along their journey, they learned new skills and culture from different races.
Director Yiewin Kang from Hundred Top Legend, who has been in the wedding and filming industry for 20 years, illustrated the short film in 8K quality through CinePhotography which is a mixed medium incorporating a combination of videography and photography.
The second video, “AirPixel 8K Kuala Lumpur Drone Film, Negaraku” was done in collaboration with Film Edge Sdn. Bhd filmed back in 2021, showcasing Kuala Lumpur through various drone aerial shots captured in 8K resolution.
The ‘AirPixel 8K Kuala Lumpur Drone Film, Negaraku’ received acknowledgement from Malaysia Book of Records for the First True 8K Drone Aerial Video In Malaysia and South-East Asia.
