Thousands of music fans of all ages celebrated three generations of rock music with Malaysian rock bands XPDC, Spider and Noh Salleh of Hujan at their first joint concert at Zepp KL in Bukit Bintang City Centre, Kuala Lumpur on August 27, 2022.

Organized by YOLO Malaysia, the ‘YOLO Live Sessions: 3 Generations’ concert brought together two hours of non-stop performances by rockers XPDC, Spider and Noh from three different decades or generations.

“Alhamdulillah everything went smoothly, almost 2,500 visitors came to watch the amazing performance from the three ‘acts’ by Spider which was popular in the 90s and 2000s, ‘King of Rock n Roll’ Noh Salleh and the legendary band which is always in memory, XPDC,” said YOLO Malaysia creative producer Hamka Mohd Taufik.

The first act of the night was Spider that performed several of their hit songs such as Anti Gravity, Kacap Terlalik, Kau Saja, Hidupku, Muningkah Terjadi, special tribute Mentera Semerah Padi, Kelawar Vampira and Mabok.

“This is Spider’s first concert despite sharing the stage with the big names in our rock music industry, and the fans were very ‘happening’ and ‘enjoying’ and were happy to see our performance.

“The special thing is that sifu Dato’ M. Nasir was also present to give support and we had time to make a spontaneous tribute for him through the song Mentera Semerah Padi,” said Spider vocalist Tam.

The second act to perform, Noh Salleh brought a more romantic mood into the hall by singing his popular retro songs such as Gelung, Renjana, Mr. Polia, Biar Sirebu, Sang Penikar, Strong Wind and Flowers in Ears.

“On this night I brought 10 accompanying musicians to the stage in Zepp KL which is a very exclusive franchise from Japan. I’m proud to be able to perform here because Japanese music has influenced my life when I was growing up,” said Noh Salleh, the lead singer of Hujan.

Finally, XPDC, also known as ‘King of Funfair’, performed their popular songs which felt like every song of theirs was fresh, such as Ntahapahapantah, Raja Kertas, medley of 3 songs (Titian Perjalanan, Hetian Ini and Aku Dan Sesutawa), Selendang Merdeka, Kita Pengyu, Sanapang Patah, Kabus Yesterday, Living Together, Not Mine and Lost Spirit.

“First of all, I wish to apologize for not being able to finish the last three songs due to poor health, but I am grateful that my son, Syed Israffil Syed Ismail continued the rest of performance to thunderous cheers from the audience.

“Many thanks to the fans who bought tickets to be here and the organizer YOLO Malaysia for the opportunity given,” said Mael, lead vocalist of XPDC.

Before the curtain finally came down, fans were treated to a special performance from the three artists who presented the popular sacred song “Semangat Yang Hilang”.

YOLO Asia founder Ib Harun thanked all the fans and artists for the special joint live performance.

“Everyone present in this concert can feel the night’s magic through the solid sound system, big stage and great effects lighting that assured complete satisfaction.”
