13 finalists vying for the Miss Plus World Malaysia 2022 crown

A total of 13 finalists will compete for the title of Miss Plus World Malaysia 2022.

Miss Plus World Malaysia (MPWM) organization has revealed its 13 finalists who will be vying for the crown and title of Miss Plus World Malaysia 2022 and Ms Plus Intercontinental Malaysia 2022.

The revelation and sashing session took place at Sunway Putra Hotel Kuala Lumpur on July 22, 2022.

The grand finale is scheduled at Sunway Putra Hotel on December 10 this year.

The winner of the national crown will represent Malaysia on the international stage at Miss Plus World 2023 which will be held in Chicago, USA in August next year.

The Miss Plus World Malaysia pageant is open for Malaysian plus size ladies aged 20 to 56 and have a size 12 and above (60kg above).

MPWM executive national director Ziinine AS Britshi said the pageantry aims to promote continuous physical and humanitarian activities, and also healthy lifestyle through education and opportunities.

“We are dedicated to promoting, elevating and celebrating the accomplishments and humanitarian services of women from across the country.

“Through this search and pageantry, we aim to create a sisterhood bond of confident and influential women who share their cultures with each other and the world as they promote education, peace, wellness and worldwide appreciation of diversity.

“Our selected finalists will be the role models of equity, leadership, and elegance,” he said in a statement through a press release.

The 13 finalists were selected from over 400 applicants after a strict pre-selections which took place online between March and April and also through three national auditions which were held in Kuala Lumpur, Sabah and Sarawak.

They will undergo three months of intensive training sessions to brush up on their public speaking, catwalk and styling. They will also be learning about global diplomacy and peace, making community engagement as well as humanitarian work as part of their preparation.

The finalists will also visit welfare homes around the country and raise funds for selected Down syndrome children as well as children from underprivileged homes in the run up to the grand finals.

This year, the pageant received significant support and commitment from various sponsors and partners, including Glam 22 that will provide the finalists with evening gowns and accessories during the finals.
