Miss Australia, 32-year-old Valeriya Sizova, has been crowned Miss CosmoWorld 2024 in the competition that took place at The St. Regis Hotel in Kuala Lumpur on Nov 20.
The 172cm (5’ 8”) tall beauty beat over 31 other contestants from across the globe to win the honour.
She succeeds last year’s winner, Shelby Ann Howell from the United States of America.
Valeriya also picked up two subsidiary titles – Miss Wellness and Miss Healthy.
The victory saw her taking home a prize package worth a total of RM490,957 including RM40,000 cash and a RM100,000 scholarship.
Thordis Asa Dungal, Miss Iceland, won first runner-up, including a prize package worth RM245,288 and Samantha Viktoria Acosta of Philippines was named second runner-up, receiving a prize package worth RM181,288.
In addition, Malaysia’s Yong Ke Ling was awarded the Best National Costume subsidiary title, for her hornbill bird costume.
The 8th edition of Miss CosmoWorld 2024 is organized by CL Skin Sdn Bhd and supported by Tourism Malaysia.
The Miss CosmoWorld 2024 grand finale was a vibrant celebration of resilience, diversity and the empowerment of women. Thirty-two women from across the globe competed for the prestigious Miss CosmoWorld pageant for a share of the RM1,000,000 prize pool.
The contestants competed in various categories, including national costume, talent, bikinis, evening wear and Q&A.
Distinguished guests, including Miss CosmoWorld patron Tengku Dato’ Dr. Hishammuddin Zaizi and Senator Datuk Seri Dr. Zurainah Musa graced the event as guest of honours.
Miss CosmoWorld founder and national director Carrie Lee delivered an inspiring speech, sharing her vision and journey behind the pageant.
Carrie, who started her journey as a beauty queen at 17 years old, envisioned Miss CosmoWorld as a platform that transcend traditional notions of beauty.
Having grown the event from a small project with a single staff member into a global celebration, Carrie remains passionate about empowering women to break barriers and embrace their strength, ambition and resilience.
During their stay here, the contestants participated in various activities such as badminton tournament, rescue aid and AED/CPR training organized in partnership with the Rotary Club of Bandar Utama. The training and awareness activities were aimed at promoting health, safety and national sports to the contestants.
The contestants also embarked on a 2-day, 1-night cultural exchange trip to Malacca, exploring historical landmarks, enjoying local cuisine, shopping and embracing the city’s scenic beauty while promoting Malaysia’s culture and tourism industry.
The Miss CosmoWorld 2024 pageant focused on emotional intelligence (EQ) skills such as self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skills which are central to the contestants’ journey. The event emphasizes not just beauty, but the development of leadership qualities and a commitment to positive social change.
