Uniqlo brings warmth to underprivileged children

Children from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary were treated to a shopping outing by Uniqlo Malaysia. The children were each allowed to pick new clothes during their trip to the newly opened store at Setapak Central Mall, Kuala Lumpur.

In the spirit of giving back to the community, global apparel retailer Uniqlo brought cheer to over 20 orphans from Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary to shop for new clothes at its newly opened Uniqlo store at Setapak Central Mall, Kuala Lumpur on April 18, 2023.

The initiative is part of Uniqlo’s continuing commitment to positively impact the local community and society at large.

“At Uniqlo, our local community is always at the heart of our business and operations. Whether it’s our employees, customers, or fellow Malaysians, we’re committed to making a positive impact. We want to provide the underprivileged children with the same opportunity to celebrate social occasions as other kids their age,” said Uniqlo Malaysia sustainability director Evelyn Tan.

She added, “Imprinting ourselves in Malaysia since 2010, our mission has always been staying close to the communities and improving people’s lives. We believe that it’s our shared responsibility to help those in need, and we’re always ready to create a positive impact.”

The new Uniqlo store in Setapak Central Mall opened its doors to the public on March 31, 2023.

Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Mary, an orphanage located in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur, provides shelter, food and education to 55 children aged between one month and 19 years old. The orphanage depends on public donations as a means of self-sustenance to support the children and the upkeep of the home.
