Tropicana partners with The Lost Food Project to fight hunger

Tropicana Foundation hands over 300kg of fish to The Lost Food Project for redistribution to six charity homes.

Tropicana Foundation, the charity arm of Tropicana Corp Bhd, collaborated with non-profit organisation The Lost Food Project (TLFP) to channel surplus food to the needy.

Together with Tropicana Golf & Country Resort and its agriculture arm, Greenhouse Farm & Fishery, Tropicana team cleaned, wrapped and delivered 300kg of fish to six TLFP charity partners across Selangor, to help the underprivileged.

The donated fish comprised tilapia stock, a low-calorie food source of protein and nutrients.

“Hunger is a growing global concern as supply chain disruptions affect food prices and availability. Despite this, more than 4,000 tonnes of avoidable food waste are generated in Malaysia each day.

“We remain consistent in our efforts to tackle this social issue by partnering with TLFP for the distribution of surplus fish stock to those in need, in line with Tropicana’s commitment to redefining the art of caring throughout its townships and vertical communities,” said Tropicana group executive director Jared Ang.

Tropicana Foundation committee member Evelyn Wan distributes tilapia stock to a representative from The Shepherd Caring Centre, a TLFP charity partner.

In addition to its collaboration with TLFP, Tropicana Foundation also donated 180 care packs to the Tan Sri Muhyiddin Charity Golf Foundation, in conjunction with the Founders Cup 2022 tournament held at the Kota Permai Golf & Country Club.

The care packs which included healthy baked goods, cutlery sets, mineral water and recycled bags were distributed to tournament participants and volunteers.

Tropicana’s partnerships with The Lost Food Project and Tan Sri Muhyiddin Charity Golf Foundation underscore its commitment to engaging with and uplifting underprivileged segments of society, as part of its sustainable approach to environmental, social and corporate governance principles.
