Tropicana Foundation donates RM50,000 to Putra Heights gas blast victims

Tropicana Foundation, the charity arm of Tropicana Corporation Bhd has contributed RM50,000 in cash and essential supplies to support families affected by the recent gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights.

The company said the donation is in solidarity with the coordinated relief response under DAP’s donation drive, with funds to be distributed transparently based on verified damage assessments.

Tropicana Group CEO Datuk Mark Rozario said during the cheque handover: “Through Tropicana Foundation, our immediate priority is to alleviate the burden of the affected families and to show our strong support to them. Tropicana Foundation donated RM50,000 in cash as well as dry goods and other daily necessities.

“As we made our way to the temporary relief centre at Putra Heights Mosque, it was heartwarming to see Malaysians of all walks of life stepping up – some dropping off food packs, others offering comfort. To us, big or small, every contribution makes a difference.”

Jamaliah Jamaluddin, the Selangor state exco for Public Health and Environment and state assemblyman for Bandar Utama said, “This is an important time for us to come together to show our support in alleviating their burden, and through this special fund, we will make it easier for the public to contribute.”

The gas pipeline fire which broke out on April 1, 2025 took eight hours to extinguish resulting in 87 houses destroyed and deemed uninhabitable, while 150 more sustained partial damage. Affected families are being housed at temporary relief centers.
