Three pageant queens were crowned in the Miss Malaysia Tourism Pageant 2023 national final held at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur on Oct 13, 2023.
Jen Cheang Shi Hui, 26, from Kuala Lumpur was crowned Miss Malaysia Tourism 2023, Joanne Clare Deaves, 23, from Sabah was awarded Miss Malaysia Tourism Queen of The Year 2023 and Shelyn Poh, 24, from Pahang was named Miss Malaysia Tourism Metropolitan 2023.
The three winners received cash prizes and sponsored gifts with a total value of RM117,000.
Apart from the main titles, the competition also awarded eight subsidiary titles to contestants.
Hosted by D’Touch International and co-organized by MyShoppo Sdn Bhd, the national pageant final was graced Dr Raja Putra Shah, the advisor of International Entrepreneur Chamber Malaysia.
The three winners will represent Malaysia at the 26th edition of Miss Tourism International 2023 world final in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah on Nov 25, 2023, where contestants from 50 countries will compete for the coveted crown at the Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC).
Tan Sri Datuk Danny Ooi, the owner and president of Miss Malaysia Tourism Pageant (MMTP) and Miss Tourism International (MTI) stated: “This pageant isn’t just about crowning beauties, it’s a platform that showcases the rich tapestry of Malaysia’s diverse states. We also emphasize on tourism, culture and friendship and contribute to the broader effort of promoting local tourism.”
Ooi added: “The three Miss Malaysia title winners become the country’s ambassadors for tourism and promote Malaysia to the global audience at the Miss Tourism International 2023 world final.”
