Ten Thailand fashion brands with over 80 sophisticatedly designed outfits were showcased at Zepp Kuala Lumpur on Sept 12, 2002.
The VersaThai fashion show was hosted by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) Malaysia and the Royal Thai Embassy, Malaysia.
Amongst the Thai brands were Heritage, Clothear Vestiaire, Varithorn Boutique, Black Sugar, MIRAH, Siri Dress House, SC Grand: Circular, De Quarr, BWILD ISAN, YANO, SHU and Scholl.
DITP Malaysia director Worawan Wanwil said the VersaThai fashion showcase was part of Think Fashion Think Thailand campaign and highlighted the top Thai fashion brands for 2022.
“A business networking session is scheduled to provide business opportunities to potential importers and investors. This will be a huge opportunity to capture the market size of over RM5 million within this year as the first mover of Thai brands in Malaysia,” he said.
The key theme of this event is VersaThai, which derives from the word “Versatile” where “changeable” and “mix and match” fashions are available for different lifestyles.
Thai artists also performed at the fashion show, including Keng Tachaya, the first runner-up in the Voice of Thailand contest.
The fashions were categorized into three signature styles:
The Dawn of Pride
Featuring contemporary Thai fashion, thecostumes were inspired by Thai culture and fabrics of the past. The designs have a modern cut suitable for a variety of occasions. This signature style is by designers Mirah, Vertiaire and De Quarr Community.
The Shining Happiness
Featuring everyday fashion, the costumes are designed for everyone and for everyday wear to help boost confidence, joy and happiness. The designers of this signature style are Mira, Varithorn, Siri and Shu.
The Bright Future
Featuring sustainable fashion, these costumes are designed, manufactured, distributed and used in ways that are environmentally friendly.
This category is showcased by designers Bwild Isan and Black Sugar; Yano and SC Grand; and Circular.
