Tay Cheah Ying Ying, a 25-year-old merchant, aspiring actress and commercial model from Selangor, has been crowned Miss CosmoWorld Malaysia 2023.
Held at JW Marriott Hotel Kuala Lumpur on Oct 27, the 162 cm (5′ 4″) tall winner will represent Malaysia at the Miss CosmoWorld International 2023 world final which will be held at The St. Regis Kuala Lumpur Hotel on Nov 29.
Cheah won RM164,150 worth of prizes, including cash RM10,000.
She was the 2nd runner-up of Miss Malaysia Globe International 2018.
Describing her win as a surprise, Cheah said, “I really did not expect to win tonight. I am grateful to the judges for valuing my hard work throughout the night, and I will work even harder for the international final.
“My victory is a testament to every girl with ambitions in this country, that is to be confident, to love and trust themselves because they can certainly be anyone they wish to be.”
Cheah, who has a Diploma from the Academy of Pastry Arts Malaysia, is ambitious and hopes to become a successful entrepreneur in the baking industry someday.
First runner-up was Crystal Low, 24, a dancer and freelance talent in Kuala Lumpur, and IT consultant Chin Wei Jean, 27, also from Kuala Lumpur, as second runner-up.
A total of nine subsidiary titles were also awarded.

Organised by CL Skin Sdn Bhd, Miss CosmoWorld founder Carrie Lee said that the beauty pageant is aimed at grooming passionate local youth, enhancing their talents and skills to young women across Malaysia.
“Having won a beauty pageant myself, I feel the need to give back to the community especially to women in the country and empower them so that their potentials are not restricted by the gender stereotypes that we often experience not only in this country but around the world, and this year is no different,” said Lee, who was former Miss Chinese Cosmos 2004.
