Local singer Syamel has launched a new single ‘Hamba Cinta’ on August 16, 2024.

The rhythmic jazz pop song was well received and Syamel, 31, considers it a sign that he is on the right track in exploring new genres and trying something different.

The singer, whose real name is Syameel Aqmal Mohd Fodzly, aims to offer something unique and show that music has endless possibilities – anyone can explore a new potential and find fulfilment in the creative process.

“As a singer, I want variety in my repertoire, especially when performing. Listeners want to enjoy diverse music, and I don’t want to limit myself to only slow-tempo songs or ballads.

“When it comes to music, diversity is very important. Music should be experienced with all the senses. Hopefully people will continue to enjoy ‘Hamba Cinta’ in the future,” Syamel said at the launch and press conference of his new song ‘Hamba Cinta’ at Jao Tim cafe, Kuala Lumpur on August 21, 2024.

The essence of the script for ‘Hamba Cinta’ comes from a heartfelt story that befalls a relationship. The love and sacrifices are ultimately destroyed by betrayal and trust shattered, as it often happens to many couples.

In the end, the love that was built becomes worthless, and they no longer want to be slaves to such relationships.

Syamel, along with composers and lyrists Yusuff Khan, Adam Armi and Adly Kiddy made many changes while creating this song, before entering the recording studio.

Although this is their first collaboration, it was done to ensure that the final result satisfied everyone involved behind the scenes, and it was ultimately translated into a music video (MV).

This time, Syamel dared to take on the challenge of using a new team for the MV production. Some secret codes and hidden messages have been included to ensure that the intended meaning of the song reaches the listener.

Looking ahead, Syamel said he and Warner Music Malaysia are already planning to release a full album scheduled for release next year.

The songs that will be included in the album consist of various genres such as pop rock, R&B, jazz pop as well as ballads that have been ingrained in him since he started his artistic career.

“Besides promoting ‘Hamba Cinta’, I’m also focused on gathering new material for the album. It takes time and I don’t want to rush the release without proper preparation.

“I am happy because the recording company has given me the freedom to create, and many variations will be introduced to ensure fans are satisfied with the new version that will be published later,” said Syamel who had previously recorded two songs with Warner Music Malaysia.

Embracing a bold approach, a dangdut version of ‘Hamba Cinta’ was also made to meet current trends. While it has not been officially released yet, the dangdut version showcases another side of Syamel.

“The idea to produce a dangdut version came from observing trends on TikTok. I wanted fans to listen and enjoy this song while dancing. Seeing many similar versions receiving positive responses, I took the initiative to create one myself.

“I hope the fans will enjoy the dangdut version when it is released,” he said, noting his plans to hold a solo concert as a thank you gesture to loyal fans who have supported his artistic career.

‘Hamba Cinta’ is available on all digital platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, KKBox, Deezer and YouTube Music.

The music video of this song can also be viewed on Warner Music Malaysia’s YouTube channel.

LYRICS – HAMBA CINTA

Rembulan dengarkanlah,
Hatiku bercerita,
Rintihan jiwa yang penuh sedih hiba,
Bukan aku sengaja,
Tapi aku tersiksa,
Ku hanya mahu merasa secebis bahagia
Ku menangis,

Melihat kau bersama yang lain,
Inikah rasanya,
Bila diperguna,
Dalam cinta,
Ku menagih,
Satu rasa yg teramat perih,
Tak sanggup aku terus menjadi hamba cinta
Mungkin kah salah ku (no)
Di buai rasa sepi
Lelah jiwa memberi
Namun hati masih menanti
Sedang malam menunggu siang
Inikan hati yang penuh suram

Perlu bahagia
Disampingnya
Ku menangis,
Melihat kau bersama yang lain,
Inikah rasanya,
Bila diperguna,
Dalam cinta,
Ku menagih,
Satu rasa yg teramat perih,
Tak sanggup aku terus menjadi hamba cinta
Ku menangis (melihat kau)
Bersama yang lain
Tak sanggup ku jadi hamba cinta
