STM Lottery Sdn. Bhd, formerly known as Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., has expanded its sustainability efforts by collaborating with Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM) to plant trees.

STM Lottery with a team of 20 volunteers including its executive director Nerine Tan visited FRIM and planted 20 trees at the man-made forest located in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur on Feb 26, 2022.

Tan said STM Lottery is proud to become one of the “Friends of FRIM”.

“The issues of greenhouse gas and carbon dioxide emissions have become severe in recent years. Planting trees will help Earth to mitigate such negative impacts and aid environmental sustainability.

“We are glad to contribute to the 100 Million Tree-planting Campaign 2021-2025 which is part of the Greening Malaysia programme and we look forward to do more,” she said.

STM Lottery has pledged to plant 40 trees this year which is also in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal 15 to “protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss”.

The tree-planting campaign is part of the company’s Helping Hands programme, a corporate social responsibility initiative to support social sustainability projects such as national sports development, festive donations, food bank and environmental conservation projects.
