STM Lottery Sdn. Bhd has officially launched its Chinese New Year ang pow donation campaign for senior citizens at Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur on Jan 12, 2023.

At the launch event, a total of more than 3,000 needy senior citizens, including those from four old folks homes, received donation packs which include ang pow money, mandarin oranges and a mini hamper.

The gaming company, formerly known as Sports Toto Malaysia Sdn. Bhd, said the donation campaign, now in its 36th year, aims to benefit over 19,000 needy senior citizens aged 60 and above nationwide for the upcoming Chinese New Year celebrations.

“It had been very difficult and challenging for all of us during the pandemic but we had managed to weather through as we are returning to normal and entering the endemic phase now.

“Over the past two years, we had continued the campaign by donating to a total of 241 old folks homes in the country. Therefore, we are very excited to bring back the public donation campaign to allow eligible senior citizens nationwide to join this auspicious event,” said Sports Toto Bhd chairman Dato’ Sri Robin Tan in his welcome speech.

The campaign was jointly launched by Deputy Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan and Bukit Bintang MP Fong Kui Lun.

The 6-day campaign from Jan 12 to 17 would be held in 48 towns and cities nationwide.

The Chinese New Year ang pow donation is part of the Helping Hands programme, a corporate social responsibility initiative by STM Lottery to share, give and care for the community.
